After a long exhausting day of hosting my grandfather's 88th birthday, after driving from Austin, Tx, I fell into the hotel bed anxious for rest, just to be awakened within the hour by water dripping in my face from a leaking roof. I was so exhausted, I didn't feel like I could pack up and get another room, so I got a 12 oz cup and put it under the leak and rolled over to the other side of the bed. I ended up having to get up and dump the cup out once. My son, who was in the other bed woke up and saw the cup and didn't realize what it was for, so he moved it. I woke up again with my clothes damp and the bed wet. It had stopped raining, therefore the leak had stopped dripping, so I just rolled further over and tried to sleep. I told the front desk the next morning when I checked out and the lady apologized and said I should have called and asked for another room. I was just too exhausted to go through that at 1 am. She said she would adjust the rate and I was satisfied. I didn't really look at the receipt until I'd left. She took a dollar off for each night! That was outrageous. I went back to the hotel and slapped two dollars on the counter and told her that was just too insulting. She said that was her lowest rate! I would think that would be the lowest rate for a room that didn't have a leaking roof! I will never stay at a Best Western again. I also told every one of my out of town relatives about the experience and I'm sure none of them will ever stay at a Best Western either. I will continue to tell everyone I know that Best Western is not a good place to stay.
