“You get what you pay for”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 July 2010

My husband and I stayed here because of location. Our boys were at the Manning Passing Academy, so it was close. We called ahead of time to make reservations around town and everything was booked because of BP workers, so this was the only place we could find. They said all they had left was a King Room..which was perfect for us...but when we got to our room ..only 1 queen (was more like a double) very small !! I had also called back to make sure I would have microwave/refrig and the lady said that I would definetly have that because it came with the room I had reserved...BUT ..when we checked in...NOTHING....so I called to the front desk and told them...later that evening when we got back to the room...we had brand-new mico/frig..!!!...The cleaning staff didnt clean our room the last day we were there...they took our pillowcases off our pillows and took our dirty towels and never came back to give us clean ones...when we came in later in the evening, I called the front desk and only an answering machine picked up...so I left a message to see about getting some towels/etc....nothing !!!!

“Not a bad place to stay”

I used to stay at the Howard Johnson (used to be Days Inn and then I think switched back) when I did the Bayou Lafourche paddle every year. I like to take a break from camping and stay in a hotel one night. Last year my usual hotel was horrible so I decided to try this one. This place has recently been renovated. It used to be the Ramada Inn. It was not bad at all - the bed was comfortable, the bathroom was fine, the sink is outside the actual bathroom and has a nice spacious counter, and the room is very "roomy". I had camped the night before in the rain and my tent was still damp. I had plenty of room to spread it out and dry it out without getting it on any of the furniture.

I'm pretty sure I will stay here again next year.

“Lovely Southern Hospitality”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 May 2010

We came in town for a friends wedding at a nearby Plantation and wanted to make a tourist weekend of it. We needed an inexpensive place to stay and found this place online. When I called to make the reservations the lady told us about the hotel's Friday Night Bistro dinner by famous Chef John Folse and the Nicholls State Culinary Institute. It was $25/person and was TOTALLY worth it!!! The food was truly amazing and real Louisiana cooking. We were SO glad we signed up in advanced b/c we found out they were book for the next 3 weeks already!

We stayed in a newly renovated room, it smelled clean and fresh! My husband says I'm a germ-a-phobe so I have high standards for cleanliness. The bed was comfy enough to get a good nights rest after that great dinner Friday night too.

The next morning the front desk helped us set up a local Swamp Tour which was a blast. Nothing says Bayou county like gators, swamps and beautiful trees covered in Spanish moss. When we got back to the hotel we were really hot from the tour so we went for a swim in the hotel pool. The water was still a little cold but it was well kept.

All in all the staff was super nice and helpful (love those accents!). The place was clean and the food was awesome. They said they were opening a breakfast room soon (it was still under renovations) but it looked really nice. They definitely fulfilled the "Southern Hospitality" ...we had a great weekend!

“New name, but it's still an old run-down Ramada Inn”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 February 2010

There's a new name and a new sign out front, but the rooms are still run-down and trashy. Street-side rooms are loud. The restaurant and bar are not open either. We'll try one of the newer hotels on the north side of town next time. We had several neighborhood transients wanting to peek into our window. Not sure what that was all about...
Good point - It was convenient to the local Mardi Gras parades.

First – and foremost – a big thanks to you and to all of your staff for their wonderful help. You are the best. I don’t know that I have ever had such a wonderful experience with a hotel. You are exceptional.

I can’t thank you and your staff enough for your graciousness and hospitality. I will be recommending the Carmel Inn to everyone I know.
