My facility director and I were made aware of Martha's post this morning. We immediately researched the room number by the pool that was being referred to as allegedly housing bed bugs.

The bed sheets, mattress padding, mattress, box spring and head board were removed for inspection of any evidence of bed bug presence either past or present. There was NO evidence of what I have been trained to observe for the past/present occupation of bed bugs in that room. As a voluntary preventative measure, the hotel has been inspected quite recently by Bed Bug Detection out of New Orleans and they also concluded that there was no evidence of presence of bed bugs.

This guest's stay was on 10/07/2011- the pool CLOSED for the season on 10/1/2011. To the contrary of Martha's advisement on chlorine levels in swimming pool, if the aroma of chlorine is present, that is indicative of OVER CHLORINATION of the water's PH level.

The Carmel Inn welcome's the constructive criticism of our guests so that we may offer our best product possible. However, the allegations made in Martha's post, are contrary to acceptable evidences of truth in theory of pool chemistry, and pest control principles.

Our hotel's offices have never been contacted by the guest named Martha,who is apparently a local resident, that filed the unfavorable hotel review listed in on Trip Advisor.

The Carmel Inn has been owned and operated by the same family for 38 years under franchises such as Holiday Inn, Ramada and now as the Historic Landmark Independent Hotel. It is consistently maintained a good report with it's client base by maintaining it's product through constant renovation process.
