The La Quinta Inn in Sulphur is good for what it is. A one night stop along the way. The people working the front desk are extremely friendly. The rooms were clean, and the beds were comfortable (but small).

The La Quinta Inn was just fine for what it was...a reasonably priced stopping point along the way to our ultimate destination.

The first thing we noticed when we walked into our room was the overwhelming smell of deodorizer. The room was mildewy or something and that smell was intensely gross. I checked other reviews and they said the same thing so we figured that changing rooms wouldn't help. We ended up just checking out because my husband, baby and cat were all sneezing, it seemed very unhealthy. What was more outrageous was that when I checked out, the receptionist said that my credit card had been charged $20 for movies but we had only checked in a couple of hours before and hadn't watched any movies. She reversed the charge, but I have never heard of a hotel charging a guest an amount for contingency, before you have actually made a purchase. Despite the mildew and weird smell, the room wasn't bad. But because of the credit card charge, we won't ever stay at a La Quinta Inn again.

I arrived yesterday evening on business from another state. I was greeted by a friendly receptionist in the evening. When I walked into the lobby it was as if i was stepping back in time.... Very outdated and not very appealing. When I opened the door to my downstairs room I was greeted with a EXTREMELY STRONG ODOR OF DEODORIZER. The room was just flat out outdated. The ceiling in my bathroom was cracked all the way across from side to side. My table did not have a chair for me to sit at. Wireless internet connection did work however. TV was old and outdated. I felt lucky to have a remote control. That was the good part. Now for the bad part.... I requested a wake up call at 6am....didn't happen. The same person supposed to give me a wake up call also told me that the HORRIBLE SO CALLED BREAKFAST WAS FIRST COME FIRST SERVE?????I was in the breakfast room at 6:55am .... I have never been told that before ....EVER . There was one lady working behind the desk with a care-free attitude. She was also supposed to be taking care of the breakfast room that was COMPLETELY OUT OF EVERYTHING. I was so shocked at my experience I immediately called La Quinta and all they offered me was to transfer me to another hotel without any compensation. So checked out of that dump and now I am at the Candlewood Suites right next door to the La Quinta for the rest of my stay... Candlewood Suites is Very Very Clean.....NEW .... And comfortable. Think twice about the La Quinta in Sulphur, Louisiana people.... And look at the other Hotels next to the La Quinta .... ANYTHING IS BETTER THAN THIS PLACE....

We don't expect much from a hotel room. All we ask is that is be clean, comfortable & reasonable rate. LaQuinta always proved to be in line with our expectations UNTIL THIS ONE IN SULPUR, LOUISIANNA!!! Musty odor, pictures & walls had mold growing on them, couldn't use the closet because of the foul odor, not to mention the over bearing odor of air freshner?? No vent in bathroom, so entire room fills with steam. Complained to desk, they told me they would let maintenance know-Ha! Where are the LaQuinta Corporate people. This hotel should not bear their good name! EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED!
