My wife and I (and our two dogs) only spent one night at this hotel and we were pleased with the result. We were seeing friends in Lake Charles, but found the price at this hotel better so the short drive was worth the savings. On the good side was that it was quiet and we had a reasonably-sized area to walk our dogs just across the parking lot from our room. On the down side was the television remote. At the end of the night upon returning to our room we attempted to change the channel and it wouldn't stop flipping through the channels, it was as though the button was stuck. Otherwise we were pleased with our stay and would stay again.

but it was by no means a great place to stay. It is what it is. A side of the road hotel for truckers or local temporary workers. I didn't have a problem with mildew or anything of the sort. We didn't have a problem with breakfast. I was happy with the lcd tv. I wad just at a 4 star marriott with an older tv! Pillows were flat but there was plenty to pile them up. I probably wouldn't stay here again but it wasn't terrible.

The La Quinta Inn in Sulphur is good for what it is. A one night stop along the way. The people working the front desk are extremely friendly. The rooms were clean, and the beds were comfortable (but small).

The La Quinta Inn was just fine for what it was...a reasonably priced stopping point along the way to our ultimate destination.

The first thing we noticed when we walked into our room was the overwhelming smell of deodorizer. The room was mildewy or something and that smell was intensely gross. I checked other reviews and they said the same thing so we figured that changing rooms wouldn't help. We ended up just checking out because my husband, baby and cat were all sneezing, it seemed very unhealthy. What was more outrageous was that when I checked out, the receptionist said that my credit card had been charged $20 for movies but we had only checked in a couple of hours before and hadn't watched any movies. She reversed the charge, but I have never heard of a hotel charging a guest an amount for contingency, before you have actually made a purchase. Despite the mildew and weird smell, the room wasn't bad. But because of the credit card charge, we won't ever stay at a La Quinta Inn again.
