Not too expensive, and still has all the amenities of a full service hotel. Room service, happy hour, hot breakfast, and a clean/comfortable room. I have stayed at this hotel before, but this most recent stay prompted me to write a review to suggest that they are doing an excellent job. I received a welcome letter and a goodie bad in my room, which was a nice, personal touch. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Thank you Wingate and I will be back.

I was very pleased and satisfied with the services that my husband and I received while visiting Lake Charles. The travel time and drive was absolutely wonderful from Lake Charles/ Lake Prien Rd. to Sulphur. I could have went with the Wingate in Lake Charles since most of our events took place there; but the area felt a little congested with all the restaurants and near by attractions so closely station near the hotel. The Employees here in Sulphur was so friendly from our very first conversation across the phone to the last conversation checking us out after our third day stay. The front desk clerk 'Jon' was superb, he greeted us with a warm smile as we entered the hotel on Friday, checked on us and followed up with us Saturday evening. The entire staff was courteous, pleasant and helpful. The complimentary breakfast was warm and delicious, I also really enjoyed all the different food options ( not just a cold 'Quickie' breakfast). The hotel location was cozy, I felt safe and secure in the area, it felt like I was outside of Louisiana; and I really like that the hotel staff was very pet friendly. I am totally disappointed by this Wingate. The hotel is old and should be remodeled, but was clean. The breakfast was okay, but the hot tub was broken. And what was worse is that the staff is awful. I overheard several employees talkin about other employees

The minute you walk in the side door of the hotel you can smell a very strong odor. Our room was on the first floor and stunk so bad that I asked for a different room. The carpet in the rooms are very dirty. The sheets were clean but were stained and the comforter was also. The pool was filthy and so was the whirlpool. I requested a crib and was told by the front desk clerk that she did not know where the crib was and if she did find it that it was probably broken and she would not want my baby to get hurt. OKAY. The hinges on the bathroom doors in the rooms are all rusted. The bathroom tub and fixtures are ancient. I was told that this hotel was a very old hotel that was bought and was rennovated by the Wingate. This hotel looks good on the outside but is not so nice on the inside. The breakfast bar was about the only good thing about our stay. I would NEVER stay here again.
