“Good Value and Nice People”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 July 2011

When I came to this Days Inn I was not so sure about staying here with all the reviews but I really needed a place to stay on short notice. Days Inn came to my rescue with a rate that beat out the other local hotels....the fact they had free breakfast sold me. The people in the housekeeping and front desk were friendly. My check in and check out went well, everyone was really helpful. I had an uneventful stay at Days Inn in Shreveport, which is just how I like it. They took good care of me, even returned a perscription to me that I misplaced. Good value and nice people = me coming back.

Room Tip: smoking rooms are on the front of the building

“Don't risk it.. Look elsewhere..”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 July 2011

I've learned early on to bring printed out reservation. We were booked for two nights. Check in was not a problem. That's where it ended.. There were people in the lobby who were clearly not guests.. Our room was just outside the pool so that was OK but felt the need to disinfect everything. The smell was nothing I could put my finger on but after air freshener it was tolerable. Bathtub was dirty and the tub mat was coming up. The bed sheets & pillowcases were stained... Carpet, lets just say barefoot was NOT an option.. The ceiling looked like it was about to fall in on us. There was a safe however it was locked. Called the front desk & was told that maintenance would be down to take care of it. Meanwhile, went to check out the pool and it was locked. Front desk said it would open at 6 and would be able for use the next day as well. After an hour or so, we told the front desk that the safe wasn't necessary. We decided to take all of our valuables with us when we left for a few hours. Upon return all seemed OK.. Put the 'do no disturb' on the door & went to bed. Around six am a car alarm started going off. Looked out, saw nothing. A few more 'alarms' and the owner shut it off. At about 9:30am, there was a knock at the door and a few seconds later someone was trying to come in. The DND was still on the door! Housekeeping was told the we had checked out. Assured one of the housekeepers that we had clearly NOT checked out and she asked if we needed anything. Asked for a few towels and were given what we had asked for. Ice machine? What ice machine? The only one that worked was on the third floor. Used the elevator to go up and it smelled like urine, beer and vomit. Took the stairs back down. Went to check the pool as we were wanting to use it for the day & it was locked again. The front desk told us that it would in fact not be opened due to cloudiness 'per management'. She then stated that if we were going to 'actually' check out, she needed to know by noon. This was at 11:45am. Really?? Well, we managed to find another room at another hotel in that short of notice. As we went to load the luggage into our vehicle, there had been watermelon splashed all down the side of it. With the grill on the second floor and the smoker that seemed to be from the room next door along with their laundry, we should have known here was more to this hotel than just two nights stay. There were more residents at this hotel than there should be.. WILL NOT be here again & will NOT recommend this hotel to anyone before they do alot of "clean up".

Room Tip: Please move on...

Issues of this nature should always be directed to the managers attention. The room was taken out of service to repair the things you told the front desk staff. I humbly apologize for the pool having to be shut down, but safety is the priority whenever the water is not clear and we have to use chemicals to clean it. Often our guests are here to visit friends and family so there may be grills and extra activity in the parking lot. We do not allow the grills or smokers within 10 feet of the building or the cars in the lot, but sometimes guest set them up without asking.
We truly hope to make all guests happy during their stay, but as you noted some people have very different levela of aceptable public behavior. I encourage you na all travelers reading this to ask to ask with a manager whenever you feel your safety or comfort are compromised. If you would like to discuss this further, please call me at the hotel or email me at dbigham@hospitalityma.com.

“Stay somewhere else!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 July 2011

This hotel was not at all what I expect of a Days Inn! I had my doubts after reading the reviews on here but when I saw billboards claiming they were "newly renovated" I decided to give them a chance! What a mistake! I guess if you call painting the outside newly renovated then it was what you would expect. When we checked into our room I looked around and everything seemed OK. About 1 hour after checking in 4 young men walked into the room when it was just my little boys and myself in there. They had a key to get in the room and apologized for barging in on us but they were given our room! They went back downstairs and got another room. After that my keys did not work I guess because they had to erase them because of their mistake. When I went down to the front desk to get my keys fixed our name wasn't even in the computer any more! They were very helpful and did fix my keys. I got my kids ready for the pool and when we went down it was locked. When I asked about when the pool would be open I was told it would be open in 30 minutes so I waited. When we went back down to the pool it was a little green but we tried it out anyway because we were told it was safe. Other guests came down and told me that staff had dumped 5 or 6 bags of shock in the pool that morning at 10:30!! I immediately had my kids get out of the pool and noticed that their feet were red! The shock was burning them! I took them to get a shower right away and the redness went away. The "free high speed internet" was not working! I called 2 times to get it fixed (800 number) and it never did work! There was a big gap under our door which was very hard to open and shut. The hot water handle was broken off the sink but still usable. There was hair on the sink. The floor was sloped badly. The ceiling was sinking in and cracked. The air conditioner wasn't working right because the filter was so clogged! I had to shake out the filter myself to be comfortable! The mattresses were hard as a rock! The ice machines never had ice in them. The water shutoff for the toilet was broken away from the wall and there was a lot of dust as well as a hole. The vent above the shower was very dusty also. The toilet took about 5 minutes to fill after you flushed it. The sheets were stained. Very gross and if I wasn't so tired and leaving in the morning I would have found somewhere else to stay even if it was $50 more!

Room Tip: Find somewhere else to stay!

“What a dump!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 June 2011

This place was terrible. When I initially checked in, I found a leak in the ceiling that dripped directly into a light fixture. The staff were kind enough to find a different room, but that room's air conditioner was broken. They put me in yet another room, and that one was in decent working order. However, the door didn't seal properly, the floor had a slant, and I'm pretty sure there were fleas and/or bedbugs. The refrigerator and microwave worked, but I was scared to try the coffee maker. This is the kind of cheap, dirty motel you see on cop shows on TV. It really does exist, and it's not pretty.

“Great people”

It's a old hotel out by the airport, but the folks there really know how to smile. Even with the small problems I had, they fixed it and made me happy for my stay. Great value for the rate.
