“Dirty hotel, incompetent and rude staff... I will NOT return!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

I was planning a bachelorette party and needed a place for us to stay. I wanted a place that was nice and a good price since my friends and I would all be splitting the cost, and was excited to learn from an employee when I first called that 2 rooms were around $100. Well, between my first call and our stay some of our party-goers cancelled, so when I called to change the room to something else, I was told that EACH room was around $100. When I arrived there, everything only got worse... They weren't going to give me the room because I had a Shreveport drivers license!! Uhhh hello?? Why would a business turn down money like that??! One of the girls who was from Monroe used her ID and then the desk clerk decides to argue with her about her age! The interior of the hotel was decorated nicely, however, there were odd stains and burn marks on the sheets in our suite and we basically had to fight to get towels. Do not stay here- if you are looking for a place close to the boardwalk go to holiday inn or anywhere BUT here.

“Excellent hotel for the value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 December 2011

Had to visit Shreveport on business and landed at the Best Western Chateau. Surprised the lobby felt like I had walked into a 5 Star Hotel, Desk clerks were very friendly, the two room suite was actually two seperate rooms and not a rooms divided into two. A complimentary drink was welcoming at the bar lounge with lively music and a fun bartender. Next morning the hot buffet style all you can eat breakfast spread was just out of this world. All in all more than expected for the value. Will difinately recommend to friends and family.

Room Tip: select the two room suite, has a kitchenette, a large work desk, 2 flat screen TV's, fridge and...

“A Nice One-Night Stay in Shreveport”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 November 2011

Having had this reservation sent from another Best Western in Missouri, we did not know what to expect, other than it was close to the casinos. We were surprised to find the hotel located almost under I-20 in Sheveport. Therefore, we expected it to be noisy, but it was not. We noticed that it seemed almost empty and very quiet, so I got the computer out and went to Trip Advisor to check it out (I usually check first, but it's Best Western, so I expected it to be fine). As usual there are always bad reviews, but the ones I read made me uncomfortable. So, my husband and I looked around....sure, it has an old feel to it and it's kind of dark, but it is very clean. And the lobby is very pretty. Everyone at the desk was friendly and helpful. Our room (#133) was in the second building, the "quieter building". We parked right outside our window. The room was large and clean. Besides the king bed, there was a desk (with a holder/stand for your computer), chair, couch, 3 end tables, coffee table, flat-screen TV, closet, cabinet full of drinks and snacks (we did not get any of those; they cost extra), 2 suitcase holders, refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot and the coffee, etc., and a nice bathroom with double sinks. The bathroom looked redone, but whoever did it, didn't do a very professional job. It was clean though and everything worked.....the shower had very hot water and the toilet flushed just fine. What really helped us was that there is a free shuttle to the casinos. A very nice gentleman took us to the casino that we requested on the other side of the river and he picked us up when we called him later (you have to call before 10:00PM). My husband was tired of driving, so that was a big help. Even though it is free, we did tip the gentleman $5. There are 2 casinos down the street from the hotel though.....Sam's Town and El Dorado, we found out later. Back to the hotel, the bed was very comfortable. The pillows were alittle fat and plumpy, but they worked fine. We both had a good night's sleep. When we checked in, we were given 2 tickets for the breakfast buffet. I wished that we had not eaten such a big meal at the Horseshoe the night before, because we were not hungry enough to thoroughly enjoy this fantastic breakfast. There was fresh fruit, scrambled eggs, gravy, GRITS (we couldn't believe this), hash browns, biscuits, sausage and even bacon. We ate what we could and it was all delicious. It was way bigger and better than the Best Western breakfasts that we have eaten in the past....and we are usually pleased with those. The server was very nice, too. As far as the location, it is very convenient to I-20 going either east or west. And it is just a couple of minutes from the casinos. We didn't get out and look at the neighborhood, but we found out that it is in the Red River District, so I think that's supposed to be good for restaurants and such. I know this is a long review, but I think that they deserve a good review. We were happy with our stay and left to continue traveling toward home both rested and full. But I did not check out the business center or the exercise equipment or the pool. Now, one thing did bother us.....the back door to the building would not lock and we reported it. The maintenance man said that a part had been ordered for it. But the hotel has a fence all around it, so that helped my feelings. As I said, I don't know anything about the neighborhood. And, if the owners see this, hey, get that door fixed and why don't you fix that fountain in the area between the two buildings and straighten the lights and maybe plant some flowers. It would certainly perk up the hotel and give it a brighter look. All in all, we enjoyed our stay and the price was reasonable at $106.87.

“Bad for business travel good for casino”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2011

I am a business traveler. This hotel is better suited for casino visit. Not an easy location to get to and probably not safe to walk to and from the casinos. The rooms have been upgraded to the softer mattresses and pillows. Clean carpet. Renovated bathrooms. The printers in the business center actually had paper and ink. Service was great but none of these positives overcame the negatives.

The hotel is older and even though it has been renovated, it still feels old. The halls smell like smoke. The location is not easy to get to and does not seem safe. The business center is old and out of date. The business center was locked and guests actually have to go to the front desk to ask for a key instead of using their room key.

“Stay at the Hilton”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 July 2011

I wanted to be close to the Studio and the Chateau was closer than the Hilton, but what a mistake. This was more expensive and less quality. The bed was mediocre, but there was free WiFi. The lady running the free breakfast was beyond rude. I asked if I could take the meal to my room and she responded "Whatever - are you gonna eat or what?" The gym was an accident waiting to happen with machines from the 60's (not exaggerating) that were missing pins and in one case a seat. The front desk was kind, but not very responsive to any of my disappointments. Thankfully this was only for 2 night. Absolutely check out the science center and IMAX dome down the street, very impressive.
