Having had this reservation sent from another Best Western in Missouri, we did not know what to expect, other than it was close to the casinos. We were surprised to find the hotel located almost under I-20 in Sheveport. Therefore, we expected it to be noisy, but it was not. We noticed that it seemed almost empty and very quiet, so I got the computer out and went to Trip Advisor to check it out (I usually check first, but it's Best Western, so I expected it to be fine). As usual there are always bad reviews, but the ones I read made me uncomfortable. So, my husband and I looked around....sure, it has an old feel to it and it's kind of dark, but it is very clean. And the lobby is very pretty. Everyone at the desk was friendly and helpful. Our room (#133) was in the second building, the "quieter building". We parked right outside our window. The room was large and clean. Besides the king bed, there was a desk (with a holder/stand for your computer), chair, couch, 3 end tables, coffee table, flat-screen TV, closet, cabinet full of drinks and snacks (we did not get any of those; they cost extra), 2 suitcase holders, refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot and the coffee, etc., and a nice bathroom with double sinks. The bathroom looked redone, but whoever did it, didn't do a very professional job. It was clean though and everything worked.....the shower had very hot water and the toilet flushed just fine. What really helped us was that there is a free shuttle to the casinos. A very nice gentleman took us to the casino that we requested on the other side of the river and he picked us up when we called him later (you have to call before 10:00PM). My husband was tired of driving, so that was a big help. Even though it is free, we did tip the gentleman $5. There are 2 casinos down the street from the hotel though.....Sam's Town and El Dorado, we found out later. Back to the hotel, the bed was very comfortable. The pillows were alittle fat and plumpy, but they worked fine. We both had a good night's sleep. When we checked in, we were given 2 tickets for the breakfast buffet. I wished that we had not eaten such a big meal at the Horseshoe the night before, because we were not hungry enough to thoroughly enjoy this fantastic breakfast. There was fresh fruit, scrambled eggs, gravy, GRITS (we couldn't believe this), hash browns, biscuits, sausage and even bacon. We ate what we could and it was all delicious. It was way bigger and better than the Best Western breakfasts that we have eaten in the past....and we are usually pleased with those. The server was very nice, too. As far as the location, it is very convenient to I-20 going either east or west. And it is just a couple of minutes from the casinos. We didn't get out and look at the neighborhood, but we found out that it is in the Red River District, so I think that's supposed to be good for restaurants and such. I know this is a long review, but I think that they deserve a good review. We were happy with our stay and left to continue traveling toward home both rested and full. But I did not check out the business center or the exercise equipment or the pool. Now, one thing did bother us.....the back door to the building would not lock and we reported it. The maintenance man said that a part had been ordered for it. But the hotel has a fence all around it, so that helped my feelings. As I said, I don't know anything about the neighborhood. And, if the owners see this, hey, get that door fixed and why don't you fix that fountain in the area between the two buildings and straighten the lights and maybe plant some flowers. It would certainly perk up the hotel and give it a brighter look. All in all, we enjoyed our stay and the price was reasonable at $106.87.
