I have never been there, but I have had the hospitality of Jill & Skip in Washington state. The are the best, and we miss them very much! Should stay at their place and have Jill's ham!

We stayed here for 5 nights while attending a wedding nearby. Breakfast was made from scratch each morning, with chilled fresh squeezed orange juice, good Louisiana coffee, breakfast breads, and on different days, quiche, pancakes and eggs, eggs benedict, and each day a fresh fruit dish. Jill, the hostess, is friendly and relaxed. The table was set with tablecloth, china and tall stem glasses. Our room on street level was about twice the size of the usual hotel room, with a queen bed, ceiling fan, window air conditioner and polished hardwood floor. In the bathroom there was a cast iron tub with shower hose (not a shower stall) so it was difficult not to spray water on the floor. On the other hand we were amply supplied with fresh large bath towels daily.
Outside there is a front porch with two rockers, and a balcony for the upper level. The porch looks out on a lawn and a walk with two large live oak trees festooned with spanish moss. There is offstreet parking for three cars.

My brother has been staying at this Bed and Breakfast periodically over the last 2 years and really loved it. St. Martinville is town of our childhood and the birthplace of his wife. So they go back to relax and visit with members of her family.

I joined him for a short reunion over the week end of the International Music Festival in Lafayette, La. and used the Bienvenue House as a base. I thoroughly enjoyed the house, the meals, the long galleries where we sat and visited.

Jill and Skip are very friendly and made us feel so welcome. They wanted the night off to go to the festival and left us in charge.

The historic areas of St. Martinville are all within walking distance of the house.
