I had pre-paid. Staff informed me I was just signing the agreed upon rate. After 6 hours of travel and moving my child into the dorm room, as well as a week-end of painting dorm room, all I wanted was a great bed and rest, as I have previously stayed at the Hampton several times.
Upon return on Saturday, we were locked out of the room and we had lodged for 2 days. Ok, after 2 trips down to the desk, they finally got the room key to work. I do tip for maid service daily. On Sunday check-out, I was charged again for the 2 day stay. So, Hampton wanted $400.00 for a 2 night stay. I approached the manager, who confessed she was new, and tried to explain my problem. I was given a story that she had to check with corporate to take the charge off my credit card. And I had the paperwork with me to prove I had pre-paid. She made a copy of my paperwork. She would not listen to me, and said something about a credit for one night. After a few phone calls the next week, she was extremely rude, a poor communicator, and I escalated the situation to her manager. Her email to her supervisor was not truthful (surprise), NEVER an APOLOGY for the rude treatment of a customer, from the manager or supervisor. And, for the record, I was pleasant, and trying to resolve the problem with all of my skills, even going so far as to state that there were some confusion and communication issues, could we try again. Still, she continued her condensending, and hostile behavior. Unbelieveable! I kept thinking how would she treat someone who was upset and angry?
As a 17 year corporate professional with customer service and management experience,
this MANAGER was intolerable. She kept interrupting me and refused to even let me talk, informed me what my issue was instead of even listening. I finally had enough of her abusive and hostile behavior. Behavior due to my desiring my hotel bill be corrected. I told her I would no longer patronize this establishment. Hampton's response was to send me a check for one night's stay; they did finally correct the additional credit card charge.
Sleep Inn across the freeway is WONDERFUL AND PROFESSIONAL!!!
