Seriously, I feel like I live at this hotel because I've stayed at it so much! I've read the recent reviews and I'm not sure what the "family visit" issue was completely. First of all, you're going to wait until morning to pull back the sheets to check for bed bugs? I have stayed here SEVERAL times in SEVERAL different rooms and have NEVER seen any or been bitten by bed bugs. I have NEVER seen any "questionable activity" or people with "large dogs". Now there are several cats that frequent the property but they're feral and will pretty much run if you approach them. BTW- the police do park over in the Clarion hotel (which is right next door) parking lot every night so I highly doubt that there was anything "questionable" going on at La Quinta.
This is an older hotel. Management and staff have always been friendly! They go around every morning sweeping and cleaning up the parking lot. If there is a problem, they try to take care of it quickly. I have only ever had a problem with one staff member and it was because he accidently through a fax away that I was expecting!
There are a lot of "blue collar" workers that stay here, but they are quiet and keep to themselves. I never hear them leaving in the morning.
The rooms are clean. The beds are comfortable. I have never had any bugs of any type in my room(s). The wireless internet works well. Breakfast is good. They added a second waffle maker. Washer and dryer both work well. They have done some updates such as new tv's and weatherstripping, etc to the rooms. I have also had several coworkers stay here and they've never experienced any problems either.
If you're looking for perfect, then go somewhere else. If you want a good place to stay at a good rate, then stay here. The odd smell outdoors which occurs on occasion is the paper mill in West Monroe.
