This hotel is a good value in the New Orleans area. The hotel is older, but functional.

The breakfast was very good. They have waffles, muffins, coffee/tea, juice, and fruit.

The amount of tv chanels is limited. They have HBO and about 10 other stations.

There are many resturants and shopping on Veterans Hwy. Even though the hotel is near I-10, the traffic noise was not bad.

Flew to New Orleans to settle my son in at college. The hotel was a few minutes from the airport on a main drag. We were able to find shopping areas easily. However, the stench in the room was overwhelming. The carpet and bathroom floor needed replaced. We did not spend much time in the room and keeping the door open did not help the awful smell. Breakfast was the same array each morning and we opted to eat at the nearby Dennys. You get what you pay for and this is for the seriously budget minded. No frills.

The room reeked of urine. We asked for another room and was moved to another room that smelled like urine. I guess all the rooms smell that way. Wouldn't stay here again.

I have stayed at this property once before and decided to try it again. My wife and I celebrated our one year anniversary by taking a quick trip to New Orleans, just for the night.

Location: This hotel is about 5 minutes from New Orleans Louis Armstrong airport. Veterans Memorial Blvd is primarily commercial with basic stores and shops nearby. The drive to downtown New Orleans or the French Quarter was a pretty straight shot, because the hotel is right next to the expressway, which goes through town. The time to town was about 15 minutes.

Outer Appearance: From the outside this definitely looks like one of LaQuinta's older hotels. It is the kind where you enter your room from the outside of the building. But the area around the building is relatively need and there is no sense of intimidation or discomfort.

Room: The room itself was basic, but fairly modern. Furnishings, sink and bathroom were in good repair and the bed was nice and firm, but not too hard. Inspection of the bed covers did not show any significant wear and tear.

Amenities: Like most LaQuintas they do have a continental breakfast that is complimentary. They did have a hot item, by providing a waffle iron and I must admit the waffles were not too bad. Get there early in the morning, for the line can grow quickly to get to the one waffle machine.

Front Counter: The staff was friendly and courteous and the service was quick.

WifI: For some reason I could not connect to the hotels wifi network. The signal was very weak and the connections never completed.

Rate: I got a very good rate of less than $60 for the one night.
