We chose this location because we wanted to be close to New Orleans (seven miles) without having to deal with parking in the city due to our oversized vehicle. The hotel is an older establishment with no inside rooms. This hotel offers your average amenities like free wifi, coffee maker, refrigerator, iron, microwave, hair dryer, free breakfast, and pets stay free. The beds were comfortable and linens were okay. The desk clerks were friendly and helpful and allowed us early checkin and late checkout. In order to take your pets to relieve themselves, you must walk around to the backside of the hotel. My husband walked the dogs, because certain times of the day I would not recommend it due to safety concerns. The area in front of your room is basically just a big parking lot. When we came back from an evening out, we discovered our door had never locked properly. Thankfully, nothing was missing. The hotel parking lot is adjacent to a restaurant called the City Diner. I would not recommend eating at this establishment. It appeared dirty, and offered terrible service and food. Overall, we got a decent night of rest and achieved our goal of finding a pet-friendly hotel near New Orleans. We took a cab to the Canal Street streetcars and had a great time in the city.

All in all, the La Quinta Causeway is fine for a place to just sleep. The pool was clean. Breakfast was your basic cereal (hot & cold), a waffle maker, , a toaster, hard boiled eggs, Apple/Orange juice and a variety of store-bought muffins. With kids, there was no place for them to run around (except the parking lot). No fitness center, No hot tub.

We stayed at the La Quinta New Orleans Causeway - Meridian from Aug 1 -2 while in New orleans for the AAU Jr. Olympic Games. Although this motel was completely booked, we had an excellent stay. Our room was clean and ready when we arrived at 2:00 pm. The only issue we had with the room was a smell coming from the bathroom fan. The manager noted the issue and said it would be fixed. The room was very large. The beds were extremely comfortable. There was very little noise....amazingly quiet to be completely booked. The hotel staff was very friendly. The maid provided us extra towels for use at the pool and in our room with a smile. She made sure to ask if there was anything else we needed. Breakfast was basic....juice, muffins, cereal, bagels, yogert and apples, but everything was in plentiful supply. The security guard was very nice and patrolled the parking lot frequently. We felt safe and comfortable during our stay. There is a wonderful diner that shares the parking lot....awesome food! The pool was clean and refreshing. My son really enjoyed his swim after the track meet. We ahd a great experience and got exactly what we expected....a clean, no-frills room in an older, rennovated motel.

This hotel was the recent site of an unexplained double homicide. Nola.com has numerous stories confirming this.

The hotel has a fresh coat of paint and remodeled bathrooms. The rest of the hotel is quite run down. The first room we checked into had the light dome on the floor with the light shattered on the floor. They checked us into another room. The second room was functional. You could very clearly hear through the ceiling/floor and walls. It was very loud.

The pool was used until very late and it was loud. Surprisingly so.

It is close to the interstate but it is difficult to enter the parking lot when traveling south.

We paid less than $65 but we should have paid a few extra dollars for the safety and quietness from any of the other local hotels.
