My husband and I just got back from the Cypress Bend Resort where he was attending a business school.. I accompanied him for a little R&R.. Upon arrival..the grounds were very beautiful and the check in area was lovely.. We got a king room with an outside balconey over looking the golf course. When we got into the hall leading toward our room..there was a strong chlorine odor in the hall coming from the pool and spa area of the building. We arrived late (around 8 pm ) and entered our room..The room was sooo hot we could barely stay in there..It took until about 2 am for the room to cool down..No air conditioning had been left on prior to our arrival on a very, very warm day. The room was large but the decor needed badly updating..Not by any means "resort" decor..The balcony had an old dirty ashtray and trash on it..There were so many spider webs and wasp on the chairs that we couldn't even sit outside. ( An old post from Nov. 2010 commented on this and management said they would address this problem, but apparently they didn't) My husband had meetings all day..so when he left in the morning he put the do not disturb sign on the door.. Well at 8 am ..housekeeping was banging on my door. The next morning , I was sleeping in and housekeeping just came into the room without knocking, even with the do not disturb sign on the door. I was awakened to a man standing in my room holding pillows as I chased them out wearing my pj's showing them the sign on the door. This is NO WAY to run a "RESORT". People do go there for rest and relaxation..The Management REALLY needs to address this..A safety issue is here.. Lori :0(

We upgraded to the "golf package" for a nice weekend - plus we wanted to check it out for a possible group trip. The Hotel is nice, but the service is terrible. We drove 4 hours to get there and played two days of golf in 100+ temps. We asked for an extended check-out time to cleanup on Sunday before our drive home. We were told NO - Ms. Deb is the head of housekeeping and she said NO. They were going to be full and couldn't do that. The place was virtually empty! I checked on the website today and they have vacancies (imagine that!). We called back and negotiated at least an hour longer and were told the Ms. Deb would "let us" stay longer if we would have all of our stuff gatherered so they could clean around us. We moved our tee time up to 7:50 and when we got back to our room, housecleaning was not even in the building. Who puts housecleaning in charge of their customer service?

We have too many other options within a four-hour drive and will never go back. The rooms were OK, but not emaculately clean. There was old coffee grounds from who-knows when still in the coffee maker. The rules on the golf course were not maintained. The services book stated collared shirts and no denim. We had to wait for a group in front of us about 45 minutes on the front - five guys with three sets of clubs in tank shirts and baggy pants.

For the price, check out some other options. I would not recommend staying here.

Cypress Bend is a very peaceful resort nestled in the heart of Toledo Bend lake. My husband and I enjoyed this two day trip so much that we have decided to celebrate every Valentine's Day at Cypress Bend! The restaurant has absolutely the BEST food that I have ever eaten - Grilled Salmon, Kick'n Cypess Chicken sandwich, and steak! The grounds are just beautiful! The staff greeted us with a bottle of wine and our room overlooked the golf course and lake. We couldn't have asked for anything else. We had a great weekend and will return. The price was well worth the trip (the "Romance" package was only $99.00 a person - which included your room, bottle of wine, two dinners and a breakfast buffet the next morning). Excellent!

This place is beautiful! I reccommended this hotel and definlity would stay here again. The rooms are very spacious and big enough that you don't feel claustrophobic. We had a "patio" room that overlooked the 18th hole. We dined at the hotel and thought the food was very delicous, after diner we had a cocktail in the Sabine social room, prices were very reasonaable for a hotel.
