I spent five nights at the Courtyard in Lafayette in late January as part of a Road Scholar program. My room was comfortable and was surprisingly quiet -- surprising because it was just across the hall from the elevator, a location that I thought might be noisy. The food at breakfast was ok; the food at the one dinner provided by the hotel for our group was not so great. The lobby was pleasant and comfortable; the small bar was convenient though overpriced (typical of most hotel bars). One negative of the room arrangement was that the a/c blew directly on you when you were sitting at the desk. I found that I had to turn a/c off when working on my computer at the desk. Because I was there in fairly cool weather, it was not a big problem. It would be a big problem in summer. The best thing about this Courtyard was the staff. The wifi connection went down during my stay -- something that would be the kiss of death for a review by me in most cases since a good net connection is my #1 priority in a hotel/motel. But at least the staff took the problem seriously and did their best to solve it. Nothing makes me more furious than a ho-hum shrug when reporting to hotel staff that the net connection is down. Though the net downage put me way behind in my online tasks, at least the staff seemed to care. If I thought that the net went down very often, I would never even think about staying at the Courtyard again. I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt and assuming that this was a rare event. All of the hotel staff seemed friendly and helpful and caring.
