The hotel is clean, quiet, and convenient. However, the woman who checked us in was not very friendly. I felt like we were bothering her and she was just ready to go back to sit in the office. She also made a mistake with our bill and it took me 3 phone calls and an hour on the phone to get it straight. Besides that, we had a pleasant stay.

I did lots and lots of research before booking our hotel in Lafayette, LA and I have to say "We made the right choice!" We were in Lafayette 3 nights, 11/25-28, visiting our son before we went to New Orleans to go on a Carnival Cruise. For months I had been reading reviews on TripAdvisor and various other sites trying to decide what to do. We usually stay at fairly inexpensive hotels but after a previous bad experience in Lafayette at another hotel I was only considering the pricier hotels. I kept the Fairfield South website watched and in October they ran a Holiday Special - so I booked it. I had requested an upper room with a view of the Vermilion River if possible. Not only did we get what we requested but our room was also upgraded to a 1-bedroom suite. This worked out perfect for us because my husband had to work some at night during our stay and I went to the bedroom and shut the door and watched T.V. and he stayed in the living room area and could work and watch the T.V. out there. We LOVED our stay here!

By the far the best rate we have had in years. We had the 2 room queen suite with a nice view of the river. The room was perfectly clean and quiet and we had no issues with the room at all. The staff was exceptionally friendly also. There is only one, somewhat oldish elevator, and the "business center" is actually just an open area off the lobby near the elevator, but I think otherwise it would be hard to tell that this isn't a newer hotel. Breakfast was typical for this chain. This is only the second time we have stayed at a Fairfield Inn but we now consider it an acceptable, less expensive alternative to the Hampton Inn.

After a very warm and welcoming reception from Ms. Eisenmann at the Front Desk, we were treated to a gorgeous room with a view from our Suite on the Vermillion River. I definitely recommend a room on the river side, and the suite (Room #303) was huge, extremely clean, and perfectly comfortable with a spacious bedroom, bathroom, and separate living room area with kitchen section, and windows overlooking the river. We slept really well and are glad we chose this Fairfield instead of the one on the highway (for which we had a coupon). This hotel is in a more scenic area closer to downtown and with a more handsome and modern property.
