Holiday Inn’s Crowne Plaza on W. Pinhook Rd., Lafayette, LA
I will be checking out today. This hotel is centrally located with easy access to great shopping centers, restaurants, the airport, university attractions etc. Guest room appointments are modern and easy on the eyes. Central air and heat work well and do not extend the ‘old hotel’ odor as some a/c/ units. Refrigerator, coffee maker, and flat screen TV with free internet is also available (no microwave). There’s an onsite restaurant with economical prices (although I preferred take out from Bone Fish Grill just 2mi. away)
There is one thing you really need to be made aware of. Holiday Inn properties that offer meeting, conference rooms, and ball rooms etc have large dances bands etc. This fell to be my lot this visit. I think my stay rolled in on one of the Mardi Gras balls and the loudest band in the universe played. I moved up to the 6th floor to avoid the noise (I did not come here to participate in Mardi Gras but to retreat and do some quiet work). The noise did not stop (bass guitars, heavy beats, on and on until 2am). So, if you plan to stay at a Holiday Inn property that offers the amenities of ball rooms etc., then don’t forget to inquire about ‘band playing’ events, especially if you need quiet to sleep!! Which reminds me, the same happened to me at the Morgan City, LA property. I believe I’ve now learned the lesson of making inquiry about the band issues.
Also, the Club Level facilities for Priority Club guest are not in operation on the weekends. Sad to say, no free refreshments for all us Priority Club guest. Otherwise, it would be a great place to stay.
