We stayed two nights at the South Koasati Pine Lodge Sunday and Monday (Oct 25&26). On the 25th the casino was giving away two cars. It was really crowed there. Our stay is usually comped at the Hotel connected to the casino. We have stayed a couple times at the Inn and once at the Chalets. So, Koasati Pine was a big step down. My daughter and son had some comp time coming from their employers, so we made reservations just two weeks before going. We might have been able to get better rooms if we had tried earlier.
Now to the Koasati Pine Lodge review. When I called to check on rooms for the two nights, they were all booked up. But while on the phone with the casino host, they just happened to get a cancellation at the Lodge. The host sure made it sound better than it was. There were two beds and a couch that made into a bed (The sheets were not fitted and uncomfortable.). It also had a small dorm size refrigerator and a microwave (very noisy). There was just two sets of towels, but they brougt more when asked. We didn't find out there was no bedding for the couch until 3:30 am when returning to the room. Also, thats when we found out the toliet was stopped up. I figured it was too late to call housekeeping. From the bedding of two beds we were able to get by using the couch. The next morning I told the cleaning lady about the problems. She got mainteance to fix the toliet right away and also put bedding on the couch when she cleaned the room. The room was ok - because it was comped. I sure wouldn't pay more than $5 to stay there, which was what I tipped the cleaning lady for fixing everything.
But there is a major noise problem - if you are a light sleeper. The highway runs right next to the Lodge and the trains run on the other side of the highway. So, it is very noisy all night long. We were in the South Lodge on the south side and on the second floor, Room 259. This may have been part of the reason. The rooms also opened to the outside.
There is no room clerk at the South Lodge and you check in and out at the North Lodge, and talk to them if you have any problems. The room was ok for the two free nights, but I wouldn't stay there again.
