I believe that Houma's hotels are consistently overpriced, probably because of Louisiana's overheated economy "drill baby drill." This hotel delivers the best value for your dollar in Houma, IMHO. The breakfast is excellent, better than what you usually get in a Microtel. The rooms are quiet. One reason may be the large proportion of guests who are workmen coming in to service the offshore oil economy. They look tired at checkin, and if they party they do so quietly. I think a lot of them just want to shower, get supper, and go to bed. Be careful where you choose to park, because the workmen tend to drive very large pickup trucks, and they often have rigid pieces of equipment sticking out behind the truck. We have had body damage to our rent cars twice while staying in Houma, while our car was parked. Try to choose a spot where no one will be backing out opposite your car. The desk clerk was very helpful, and this is our place to stay in Houma.

This was my first stay at a Microtel and i guess I should have known that the relative size of the room would be...well, micro. i was actually taken aback when I saw the compactness of my room, pretty much college dorm room size. But since I was by myself, it was fine. Other than that, I was generally pleased with the clean and comfortable room and the very friendly staff. Just know that the name on the sign doesn't lie...

I have stayed at this Microtel for several months. The rooms are clean, though unglamorous, and the front desk is friendly. Their breakfast consists mostly of cold, somewhat stale pastries; though they did add a waffle machine. I wish, after staying there on so many occasions and getting to know the employees, who are generally great, I could speak more highly of the Microtel. But my last few visits were very disappointing. I woke up one morning to find a cockroach in the bathroom. And a week or so later, they placed me in a room where the shower had been disabled. Had the shower been enabled, there is no guarantee that it would have worked well, as some rooms have showers that seem to be designed to simulate getting caught in the rain. I am sure, had I asked, in both events they would have happily changed my room, but checking into a hotel shouldn't be a crap shoot -- ideally, I could arrive and not need to comb the room for bugs and test the plumbing.

Arrived late and the desk walked me around hotel to show additional parking...Breakfast was a little skimpy...but other than that it was a good stay!!!
