No problem checking in early around 2 PM on a Monday into a 3rd floor studio suite with king bed, looking out over a Popeye's Chicken next door, but that was never an issue although the view could have been better. But this hotel is in a warehouse/office area, so there's not many scenic views around anyway, and I was there on business and stayed at work long hours during the day, so only was at the hotel at night.
The hotel is still fairly new and well-maintained, but the soundproofing between rooms could certainly have been better, as I heard snoring and phone conversations from neighbors on both sides when the HVAC fan was not running.
Pros:
- Close to my company's office about 3 minutes drive away
- Conveniently located to numerous restaurants in the area...be sure to try Charlie's Seafood and Dockside Seafood and Oyster Bar. The usual franchise restaurants are there too...Applebee's, Shoney's, Wendy's, McDonald's, Subway, etc.
- Complete kitchen with full-size refrigerator (no ice maker), dishwasher, sink, 2-burner stove with oven, and microwave
- LCD TV's with nice selection of channels.
- Free wired and wireless Internet access, but both rather slow
- Free on-site parking
- Comfortable bed, but I was so tired after long days working that it would not have mattered
- Complimentary daily continental breakfasts with limited selection of items including boiled eggs, pastries, cold cereal, hot oatmeal, grits, yogurt, and a variety of beverages, but not many items with protein.
Cons:
- Poor room soundproofing; heard snoring and phone calls next door
- Sluggish lavatory drain in bathroom, but did not bother to call to have repaired while there
- Super-thin wash cloths and towels. I would be embarassed to provide such linens to guests myself.
- No meats, cheese, or hot egg dishes offered at breakfast
- No luggage stand; had to put my suitcase on the closet floor
I may stay at this location when my work travel plans require me to visit here again (it's certainly adequate), or I may try the Hampton Inn a few minutes away...hotels in the immediate vicinity are very limited. I have stayed many times at Homewood Suites by Hilton at various locations around the country (but none close by in Harahan) and they are definitely a step up in quality from Towneplace Suites for about the same price.
