“We stayed there before & it wasn't that bad but then...”

We were in town for a pre-season Saints game (August 2011) and arrived for late check-in after the game. It was almost midnight. The front desk woman had an attitude from the start, the young man was polite. So in our first room the carpet was more than damp, the fire detector did not have batteries, and it stunk! Given the attitude of the front desk clerk, we were hesitant to complain. But then we discovered them…that’s right, BED BUGS!!! I’ve attached pictures. So we call the front desk. We should have left right then and there but it after midnight on a game night…we had nowhere else to go and we were exhausted.
Still plenty of attitude to go around, the front desk clerk gives us another room. She tells us we can plainly see that the hotel is undergoing renovations. Also that the room we were in was not supposed to be used for guests, it wasn’t in rotation and should not have been used. She was the one who checked us in!!!! Are you kidding me??!! Don’t they have some sort of internal check-in procedure to ensure that doesn’t happen? Some level of quality control? I was so mad that I couldn’t say a thing; there are no words to describe how mad I was and still am.
Okay, so we get a new room. The young mad can see we are upset and he can see how rude she was, so he offers to walk us to our room to make sure everything is okay. He has to get permission from her though. She says it’s okay but rolls her eyes. We get to the room, check it out and all seems to be okay. It stinks but the carpet is dry and the bed seems to be okay. We all take showers and go to bed.
In the morning, we go to the restaurant for breakfast. We had planned to stop by the front desk after breakfast because we wanted to speak to management about the bed bugs!! Did I tell you they were renovating the hotel? That’s right; they were replacing the tile in the restaurant. That morning they were working on the area right next to the breakfast buffet….a dust covered breakfast buffet…yummy! No thanks. Who was supervising the tile crew? It appeared to us, no one!! We waited a little bit because we thought maybe we could order off a menu and get it to go. Nope, no one came out, no one walked by, no one was around!! So we load up and left. Believe me; no one from that hotel missed us. The management never contacted us, no nothing!!! Did we complain, yes on a survey and to the front desk clerk….for as much as that was worth? Well for us, that was worth about $120.00. Thanks Greta Quality Inn...:(

Thank you for your review. I would like to apologize for the inconveniences you encountered during your stay with us. In August of 2011, we were undergoing a complete overhaul of guest rooms and, at the same time, some staffing from the previous management. We spent many countless hours hiring the right guest service staff and training them as well as re-training those that needed it. I want to thank you for letting us know of your experience in August of last year and I would like to speak with you directly about your stay. We do appreciate your business and would like to show you that our hotel has made significant changes and would like to see you come back to the Quality Inn & Suites the next time you come to the Gretna area.

“Great room, horrible service and employees.”

For 100$ I expected friendlier service. So room is great! Bed nice tv is awsome flat screen. Only issue is when I checked in. Dude was a JERK and rude. It was 3am and he told me to come back at 3 pm, he could not check me in before that. After arguing with him I got my room. @9am I call to ask for late check out and got it for 12 noon, again voice on phone sound like I was asking for hugh favor and she had to go out her way. @ 11:15 a knock at door. I said I have late check out she snacked her lips and gave attitude. Normally u don't care about small talk give me my room key and let me go, but Geez did everyone have yo be jerks and have attitudes? Other then that room are great and comfortable. Room are outside not inside building. Internet is fast. I feel a little on the high side. But take employees out and it would have been awsome. So of u can deal with attitudes and a high price its great! Nut next time i'll drive the 15 20 minutes to other city.

Thank you for your comments. Without them, we would not be able to address and correct our deficiencies. I have spoken with the hotel managment about the incident and they have made the appropriate disciplinary steps and staffing changes. The experience you encountered is not the way we do business and is not tolerated by either the hotel management or the corporate office. Our philosophy is to meet or exceed our guests experiences and I apologize that this was not the case during your visit with us. We hope that you give us another opportunity to earn your business back.

“Busy During Event”

I always stay in another hotel when in New Orleans, but because of games, I stayed here instead. It wasn't too bad. They had a shuttle that takes a person to the Algier's ferry for a ride across the river. The shuttle is free. They have a free breakfast as well. We had to wait in the lobby until after five for our room. The room was clean, but must have seen some recent action for the bathroom door was shattered (yes, shattered). They offered to fix it as soon as possible, but they were so busy that we told them to do when ever they had a chance. I would stay here again.

“Was OK and Price Right”

Four adults stayed at Gretna Quality Inn in January 6 & 7, 2012. The price was right considering everything in the FQ was either full or very expensive. The motel was dated and the bathroom (room 2022) needed some TLC but it served the purpose. The restaurant and bar was very nice and the people working the bar were lots of laughs. We really enjoyed the time we spent at the bar. The shuttle goes to the Algiers ferry on the hour which is free. It was very convenient to get to the FQ and saves bucks by not needing a taxi. We even checked out, went to the ferry with our luggage and made our way down Riverwalk to our cruise ship. No problem at all. The motel shuttle only runs till 9pm and the ferry till 12:15pm. If you arrive at the ferry after 9PM you can call the motel and they will send a taxi to pick you up (at your expense). The hot tub was in operation but the pool.......well they really need to empty it or refill it with clean water. The water was really mossy looking. Certainly not swimming quality.
Be aware that the cost of a taxi from MSY Airport to the Quality is approx. $73 so the shuttle service is very cost effective. I actually would not have a problem staying there again if nothing was available in the FQ. Mrs. D at the desk was great.

As you experienced, we are going through some renovations in order to make our guest's experiences more comfortable. We feel that our hotel adds value to guests when they visit, from our free shuttle service to our complimentary hot breakfast every morning. I will let Mr. D ( Delana) know that you appreciate her guest service as well. We hope that you will consider us again when you return to the Greater New Orleans area

This is an older Clarion that is now being renovated into a Quality Inn. The hotel front desk was going through a much needed renovation. The staff was extremely courteous, this started by them actually taking our reservation themselves and not passing us onto the national reservation number. They were all extremely friendly upon check in. We found the rooms to be average and clean, but nothing spectacular. They have a great bar area with moderately priced drinks. Breakfast was fantastic and well stocked. They run a free shuttle to the Westbank ferry stop every hour. This is a great convenience to those touring the downtown New Orleans area.
