We checked in fine. Went to our room to discover a very smokey smelling room with a fan on the heater/AC that made a chirping noise. Both were unacceptable, so we were given keys to check out other rooms...another smokey one and three just painted with too much paint smell for my wife. The girl at the front desk was helpful enough, but said she was out of options, so we settled on the smokey one without the chirp noise. Our room was the cleanest of those we had seen.

Continental breakfast was ok (IHOP, Waffle House and Starbuck's are walking distance) and help was polite. We were amazed to find the maid smoking outside our room as we left one morning. She said she would not smoke in our room and that that room always had had a bad smell to it! The room seemed smokier each night as we returned. There were workers (plumbers/painters?) in some of the rooms until at least 11pm.

Bed was comfortable, TV worked, water was hot. I think we were wise not to try another adjacent hotel having read some of those reviews, althought the Hampton Inn might be the best choice. When we left, we were told they would try to deodorize the room for the next guest. We were given a small discount on our room rate.
