We recently stayed in Breaux Bridge 4 nights from Thursday-Sunday at the Maison des Amis. The location was fantastic, within walking distance from downtown, antiques, boutiques, cafes, tourist information, etc. The grounds were beautiful, there was a gazebo right on the bayou. We ate a the Cafe des Amis restaurant right around the corner and the food was excellent, the Zydeco breakfast on Saturday morning was a real treat. The room was clean and bed was comfortable. The whole experience was very impersonal for a bed and breakfast. We never saw anyone except for the maid. Our keys and other information were left for us. There were many notes left on the porch and in our room with instructions of what not to do. The bathroom door broke and other minor repairs were needed. There was a mix-up with parking, different instructions written different places, but we did figure it out. The owner lives out of town and someone manages the property, maybe that is part of the problem. There were numbers to call, but we are the type who won't call unless we have to. I just felt that someone should have at least checked in with us. We did enjoy the town, the swamp tour with Norbert LeBlanc, eating at Cafe Jaqueline, great seafood at the Fruit Stand and sausage Pouche's. We would return to Breaux Bridge, but would probably not stay here again.
