The Hotel was a bit hard to find. It was on a residential street of mostly older ranches and bungalows. The surrounding homes were in various states of repair. The night clerk was pleasant and had me checked in quickly, explaining to me they only had upstairs rooms. When I arrived at the room, the next door neighbor was grilling some kind of meat on a small charcoal grill just outside his door. Checking my room out, I found that the heat had been turned all the way up and the temperature felt around 90 degrees. The carpet and furniture had brown stains. The toilet had been left soiled and not flushed. Complimentary toiletries were partially missing.
I found the day clerk to be somewhat officious but the rest of the staff seemed nice enough. The continental breakfast was standard for Choice Hotels and nicely laid out.
