“Efficient staff; not a good area”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

On a positive note, God love LaQunita for accepting pets. This is so important to military families that have to travel. At least they can depend on LaQuinta to over-night without a hassle. LaQunita has my utmost respect for that policy. I just hate giving this place a less than stellar review. But it is based upon the location and age of the hotel.....not the staff. Just needed a place to sleep during a road trip. Since we have great stays at the LaQuinta in VIcksburg, MS we gave this site a try. This is a very old LaQuinta. Our room was old, but was "updated" and clean enough - everything worked. It was okay for one night - I wouldn't want to spend my vacation there. The lady at the front desk was very nice and efficient - it took about 2 minutes to check in. All that did not make up for an outside entrance at the back of the building in a questionable part of town. I would not have been comfortable staying there alone and checking in at night. I usually have good experiences at LaQuintas......maybe I'm jaded by the really nice ones we have had the good fortune to find. Breakfast was served in another building, so that was not convenient.

“Clean Rooms and GREAT staff”

Recently, due to an emergency while traveling, I had to pick a hotel in the middle of the night. The front desk clerk at this La Quinta was without question the most friendliest, professional, welcoming front desk clerk I have ever encountered. The morning staff were equally pleasant at checkout. A couple of months later while traveling in the same area and needing to overnight for a meeting, I decided to see if that quality of service was consistent. To my surprise, it was. This hotel is now on my regular overnight locations list. The only downfall is the continental breakfast. Otherwise, access from the Interstate, parking, cleanliness of rooms, and so on are excellent.

“Will NEVER stay again!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 August 2011

We decided to stay at this hotel because of the proximity to shopping at the Boardwalk. HUGE mistake. The room smelled of body odor and old furniture, the bathroom hadn't been properly cleaned, and the bed and pillows were extremely uncomfortable. As soon as you sat on the bed, it felt like it sank to the floor in the middle, and not in that comfy kind of way. More of the they-need-a-new-matress kind of way, and the pillows were the same. To top it all off, we (as in my husband and me, and my 3 small children) were awoken at least 3 different times during the night because of loud yelling and beating on the walls/doors. At one point, the cops had obviously been called also. It was so terrible, we didn't even want to eat the free breakfast the next morning. We just got up and left. We have stayed at many La Quinta's but have never had this horrible of a stay.

“SOOOO Disappointed”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 July 2011

Beds sucked, the smallest bathroom ever (wish I would have taken a picture of it), it smelled, no microwave, not that we use them but I have never been at a hotel without a microwave, no refridgerator, I was really shocked. DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS ONE TO ANYONE!!

“The basic of basic.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 July 2011

My family and I stayed here for one night while visiting some family. We were suppose to stay two nights, but after the first night we packed up and left for another hotel.

We chose this hotel for two reasons: First, it got fairly good reviews from tripadvisor. Two, it was reasonable. Since we were only using it to sleep, we thought, "What the heck. It's worth a try." WRONG! The rooms were actually fairly clean, but small and depressing. It appears that they have recently renovated because everything appeared on the newer side, but there was completely no warmth to the room. It felt like being locked in a psychiatric ward of a hospital. My husband has worst feelings about the place than I. I may have been willing to stay another night, but when he went out to get coffee in the morning and saw five police cars with their lights on in the parking lot, that was the last straw. We were out of there. We ended up going to the Quality Inn the next exit up which was MUCH better. On the plus side, it appears that the owners have tried hard to make the facility as nice as possible. The pool appeared clean and well maintained. It's just a shame that it's not as nice as it could be. We've found this to the be the case with this chain of hotels.

Like a previous person stated, this hotel is used by construction workers. The parking lot was filled up with their trucks/vans. We hardly found room for our car.

If you're looking for a very cheap place to sleep and are too tired to notice your surroundings, then this is the place for you. I suppose you could find worse, but there are a lot that are better - even those in the same price range.
