“This place is on the up and up!”

Boomtown is quickly becoming my casino of choice. They have completely modernized the hotel from head to toe. It is swanky and nice! They have a beautiful albeit small outdoor swimming pool. All of the restaurants are top-notch! Sundance Cantina has a diverse and delicious menu, the steakhouse is wonderful and relatively reasonable, and the buffet is one of the best in this area. Sundance also has one of the best, free, live music scenes in the area. On the third floor of the casino, they now have "The Hangover" slot machines, based on the movie, which are awesome! On each casino floor they also have serve-yourself soda fountains, which is pretty great and they also have Mr. Pibb Extra, which totally rocks! On the first casino floor, they have a 25 cent video poker bar, and out on the floor, they have 5 cent video poker machines which is just icing on the proverbial cake. If I was rolling up into Shreveport-Bossier, I would stay here for a night or two or three.

“Only place to really relax.”

Clean and comfortable. Great staff. Far enough away from casino that you can get away from all the noise. Buffet is ok, steakhouse has specials during the week. Call and ask for casino rates, sometimes they reduce the cost of the room hoping you gamble more. Pet friendly * Small deposit required.

“June 28-29, 2011 - Good value, clean, and good service”

My family and I stayed at this hotel for two nights. The room was very comfortable, clean, and the decor is stylish. Hotel staff was great! We have stayed here several times already this year and have never had a bad experience except one time when we arrived and our room was booked for the wrong day BUT the hotel was able to find an available room. The pool is very nice!

“Liked the room”

We stayed here for one night on my daughters 21st anniversary so she could gamble. The room was actually really nice, the front desk staff was friendly, and when we called to ask for extra towels, the person who brought them was quick and very nice. The hotel itself is fine, and there are several restaurants connected to it, and a couple bars as well. The ONLY rude person we ran into was a cashier in the casino. We are not normally gamblers, and when we asked her a question she was rude and treated us like dirt. The pool is outdoors, and when we were there, the lights in it were not working. The only thing that really annoyed me was that they charged a $100 'key charge' to my card, which eventually was taken off but it took several days to happen. I probably wouldnt stay here again because we just are not gamblers, but if you like to gamble, the hotel is nice and I could recommend it.

“Lacks basic things, but not bad.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2011

When you first pull into the casino/hotel, you can pull in close to the check-in desk and someone will valet your car for you which is a nice service. The casino is on your left when you walk in and the hotel is to the right. The hallways are really long, so if your room number is a 10 (ex. room 120, 226, 332, etc.) or higher, than you're going to have a long walk from the elevator.

When we arrived, we had trouble getting into the room. After inserting your room key, you have to push up on the handle instead of down. Awkward, especially if your hands are filled with luggage.

The room is spacious enough for a weekend stay, but it lacked a few basic things:

The desk only has two plug-in outlets which are occupied with a clock and lamp. So, if you want to plug up computer to work/surf at the desk, then you have to unplug the clock or the lamp.

You definitely don't want to unplug the lamp! The room has three light fixtures and with all three on, you pretty much have the power wattage of three candles. The room, even in the daytime, is dark. We had to take the lamp shade off of the lamp just to have sufficient lighting in the room.

The bathroom is roomy, which is good and the bed if comfortable. We ate at the buffet which was decent, but not worth the $19 it cost per person. The casino really isn't that big nor was it filled with any excitement. We spent very little time there since nothing appeared appealing.

Overall, it's a decent place to stay, but it could be better if they paid attention to simple things. Reasonably priced at $69 (Wednesday night) Wi-Fi Internet access (512 kbps up and down) is $9.95 a day.
