I have written several reviews of the Horseshoe but this was the best visit yet on Jan. 20th, 2012. Renovated rooms. Nonsmoking floors. Flat screen TVs now. Easy check in and out. Friendly staff. Diamond Club is the best with free drinks and food for Diamond members and their guests. Cigar counter outside the club. New buffet. Total Rewards made the visit free for 3 days. Won this time. Views of the Red River are fabulous but ask for a room facing the river. Great security. Well lit halls, elevators, and rooms. Snacks, drinks, and ice in the halls. Offers and casino cash continue to be mailed out every few weeks...you won't get that in Vegas. Free drinks at the 2nd floor casino entry with beer and water outside the casino as you enter. Check thru in the hall keeps underage kids out. 3 floors of gambling. You can read my other reviews. Maids clean up about noon so you can sleep in. Nicely appointed king bedroom. Oversized tub. Plenty of hot water this time. Water pressure is a little slow in the sink but it did the job. I was on the 18th floor. Clean linen and drapes. Noise is almost zero between rooms. Connecting rooms are available. Fast elevators regardless of floors and lots of them. I think 8 in total. If it says nonsmoking please do so since it is now a 150.00 charge to your credit card if you smoke in those rooms and they enforce it. Think they are getting a Starbucks. They have a new dessert bar with coffee now next to the buffet. It has salads also. Great room service 35-45 mins. to delivery. Good coffee. All American Breakfast is delicious. I go to the hamburger bar for peanut butter shakes yummy! Check my other reviews for more on this hotel. It is not Vegas but it is better than many hotels that are on the strip in Vegas. Bell Captain and valet service is 5 star. Public restrooms are spotless. Waiting area at valet to pick up car with a TV and soft drink machine keeps you out of the heat or cold.
Jack Binion Steakhouse was delicious as usual. Make a reservation they are booked sometimes. Chinese restaurant next door. There is a store for toiletries, liquor, and souvenirs as well as a dress shop and men's store. The Mall is behind this place with a Bass Pro Shop.
Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the river to be sure and get it and keep tips to 2-3 dollars as they request n...
