“Wonderfully friendly staff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

The hotel is very clean, and although the facility is understaffed, the staff treated me like family... well, the way we WISH family would treat us.

It wasn't easy to find, and there was some highway noise, but it wasn't too bad in the room I stayed in.
It's not a place to "party", as the "bar" and the bistro are one and the same; basically the open area of the lobby. AND they close at 10 PM.

“Big Disappointment - Not a "3 Star", Not acceptable for Marriott”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2012

This hotel was a disappointment from the beginning. First of all, the signage on the hotel is limited to two signs visible from the Interstate - when you actually arrive to the hotel there is no signage on the building at any entrance. As a Priceline customer, I understand that a room type cannot be guaranteed but the hotel was virtually empty when we checked in. We asked for a one king bed and the hotel receptionist seemed to blow off the request and quickly said "No, we don't have that" - she didn't even consider the request. She put us in a two queen bed room on the first floor right next to the exterior side door and elevator, which was loud. The lobby was fresh and updated with Courtyard Marriott's new design but the rooms were extremely outdated. The "Market" had very limited operating hours and several times I went up for coffee (before 11am) and there was no one around willing to make a cup. Carpet in hallways and in room was old and unkempt, bedding and curtains outdated, mattress was extremely hard and slid on the box spring when you sit on the bed. The pillows were flat and seemed to be 10 years old+. There was a flat screen TV in the room which seemed to be the only update they have made to the room in the last 5 years. There was ONE mirror in the room above the lavatory. The towels were old, scratchy, and thin. The windows (sliding glass doors on the first floor) were dirty and cloudy with mildew.

Quite frankly, this is not what I expect from a Courtyard Marriott and certainly is not a 3 star level hotel commensurate with the other three stars in the area which were listed on Priceline at the time we booked. It is easy to see why Courtyard Marriott was the lowest bidder.

“So, so noisy!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 December 2011

I booked last minute on Priceline which guaranteed a 3 star hotel. This is no where near 3 star hotel status. The lobby would make you think so. I also dealt with key problems. The walk to my room was a hallway of a hotel that had been updated but still has a stale smoke smell and nasty ceiling tiles. I also asked to be moved to a quieter room but was told there was nothing. Right now, this hotel looks fairly empty. Anyway, my money is precious to me and am sad that I spent it on this hotel...

Room Tip: Ask for the inside rooms!

“Not Up to Marriott Standards”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 November 2011

We were disappointed in the Staff. After a long drive from Atlanta it took four tries to get a key to our room right. Each try we had to go around building to main entrance to exchange key and try again. Not a very good experience. My husband has been using Marriott Hotels for over 30 years, he is a Platinum Member and we have found a definite lack of professionalism lately in some of the Courtyards. The restaurant staff was most accomodating and we enjoyed our breakfast. Will think again before we stay in the Baton Rouge Courtyard , there are plenty of other chains out there.

“Good stay for what we needed!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 November 2011

This was our first stop in a little jaunt through Louisiana. I booked through Priceline, so I didnt' have a choice of exactly where my hotel was, but we were totally fine with the location. If you're looking to be right downtown, it's not walkable but quite close, and also close to LSU. The hotel had everything we needed, lobby was nice and modern, parking free, comfortable beds and close to a couple of restaurants we went to eat at. The room itself is outdated, btu again, perfectly acceptable, especially consdiering what we paid. The pool area was nice, though it was obviously too cold to swim. There was nothing extraoridinary about this place, but nothing overly bad either. Good stay!
**we had a room facing the highway, and the traffic is quite loud. we sleep with noise machines anyways, so it was fine for us, but worth noting for light sleepers.

Room Tip: Room away facing away from highway for light sleepers. Breakfast is good, but NOT included!
