“No problems and no frills”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2010

After a long day of driving and armed with a Louisiana Visitor Center Coupon we ended up here for an evening. Unlike a previous report the clerk readily accepted the coupon. Some specifics:

Location. As mentioned before, the hotel is located on a long service road off of I-10. The landmark is the close by Cracker Barrel restaurant.

Room. Typical no frills Microtel. Small room with Ikea-like furniture mounted on the walls. Television is located on the top of a small closet. Microwave and small fridge too. Bed was clean and comfy. No issues. Bathroom was unusually large when compared to the rest of the room. Plenty of hot water. No condom wrappers or other discrepancies reported by other reviewers.

Amenities. Not many. There is a small business office and wireless internet. We did not use either. Breakfast? Did not see it. I made a trip to the car with some luggage and looked for the posted "continental breakfast" but saw nothing in and around the lobby at 7:30am. I opted not to ask as we were planning on eating a real breakfast further on down the road.

Overall, this is a stop-over hotel. Not a destination. No frills room. Nothing more and nothing less. I would not pay more than the discount coupon rate of $49.

“Stay away from this hotel.......”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 June 2010

Hotel is filthy and smells. Bathroom moldy. Cigarette burns and holes on window cushions. Several children live at the hotel and are allowed to run wild. Pool looked like a swamp. The staff are rude and a little wierd. DO NOT STAY HERE.

“Very uncooperative help”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 April 2010

The employee would not honor a discount coupon for a night's stay that I received at the Louisiana Welcome Center. The desk clerk stated that the coupon was not valid for a Saturday night. He and I both read the coupon together and nowhere did it state it was not valid for a Saturday night stay. He still refused to honor the coupon which is not legitimate. He also quoted a room rate much higher than the rate published on the Microtel site. Needless to say, we did not spend the night. I stayed in this same hotel two weeks previously and the coupon was honored by a different night clerk. Also, the room we stayed in was very average and the breakfast was less than what is expected for a continental. We like to stay in Microtels and I would rank this one at the very bottom and will not stay here again because of jthe unreliability concerning coupons, the room and the breakfast.

“Worst ever!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 September 2008

WARNING, This was the worst place my family and I have ever stayed. Apparently they have employees living there with 8 to 10 children, I'm not exaggerating, the children lay on the sofas in the lobby and watch television, the desk clerk was sleeping on the side of her, half eating, fried chicken, and my 11yr old daughter was cursed out entering the hotel by one of these children, they run down the halls, ALL NIGHT, and they stay on the public computer. They have a pool, we went bring our children swimming, the employees children came, all of them, they started singing rap songs along with the profanity. They have a continental breakfast, but you better get there early, the employee’s children get up early and there’s nothing left except coffee, but they take all the sugar. Take your valuables with you when you leave the hotel because someone, other than myself, is enjoying my digital camera. All in all, this was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in.

“Worst Hotel I have ever stayed at !!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 July 2008

I don't really know if this space will be enough for what we experienced. First off, at check in the girl at the desk did not greet us, she kept looking over our shoulder to watch tv. We get to our room, and the toilet was running, the phone jack was hanging off the wall, the phone was missing pieces, there was popcorn kernels and bobby pins on the floor and the tub had hair pieces in it.

When we went to lock the door the top lock was broke-so the door could not be locked. I went down to the front desk asked for another room,
I checked that room out and it was missing the front cover of the AC (we had a 1 year old with us/her arm could fit all the way in it).

I then get a 3rd room key and check that room out, the top door lock was also broken and the bathroom light did not work.
4th times the charm right?- I check this room out- it appears okay, we move our family to it, go to bed, the next morning I am getting the little one out of the tub (had to put a towel in the tub/ no way I would set my child in the tub) I am drying her off and a LONG black hair sticks to her back!

I attempt to get my daughter some cereal from the joke of a breakfast they offer, and I had to ask for milk (cereal and bagels was ALL they had), the lady hands me the entire gallon of milk. I then ask for the manager and she said he would not be in till 11,
I asked if she could call him she said no she didn't have his number, she asked what was wrong- I told her everything - she actually and honestly just shrugged her shoulders at me.

I go back to the room and begin to gather our things to get out of there. As I am lifting the blankets from around the bed, I find part of a CONDOM wrapper on the floor next to my oldest daughters bed!!!- By now I am fumming! I go to the front desk and demand the girl to call the manger who is also the owner (Ross Patel)

As she is lightly explaining that I was unhappy, I begin to talk loudly directly to the phone explaining that the condom wrapper was to much. ( I am 7 monthspregnant-its not mine). The owner/manger then decided to be so kind and only charge us $40.00 for his crappy hotel room instead of $80.00. This place is sick! It absolutely gives ALL Microtels a HORRIBLE name. I will tell everyone I know not to stay at a Microtel.
