“Nice Hotel , with a few problems for us”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

Stayed here for two nights on a business trip to Baton Rouge. We checked in and were given keys to our room and were upgraded (my husband is a Diamond Honors Member) to the Executive Floor - however, when we got to the room it was two double beds instead of the King we had reserved. I called the front desk and was told there were no king beds available. My husband called later; and, after being told what you reserve is not always what you get, they found a king room down the hall. The Executive Lounge is really nice. They have nice snacks and drinks in the evening and a great breakfast in the morning. The staff in the Executive Lounge were really personable! We enjoyed visiting with them.
The bed was comfortable - we had a "city view" that overlooked a parking lot. The bathroom only had a shower and was tiny. Everything was great until the day we left. I was in the shower with shampoo on my hair and the water ran out! No Water!! (about 10AM)I finally was able to rinse my hair with some bottled water we had in the room! My husband called down and was told there was a water line break.
Bed was comfortable... Would probably stay here again.

I am truly sorry for your inconvenience. We have been in contact with the city and the contractors; believe it or not, they are still working on the water lines. Unfortunately with this type of issue, we are helpless and feel horrible. I know that not having water for several hours is a nuisance and again, I sincerely apologize.

It is possible to have a different room type from what you originally book but we try our very best to give you the room type that you request. Since we are a historic hotel, we offer many different and unique room types. Our king bedded rooms offer a shower and our double rooms offer bath tubs with a shower.

I am happy that we were eventually able to accommodate you with a king. Once again, being a historic property, we cannot change the layout of the rooms; therefore, when built some rooms and/or bathrooms are smaller than others. I guess that is the charm of a historic property.

Thank you again for choosing the Hilton Baton Rouge Capitol Center Hotel and we would love to have the opportunity to be of service to you in the future.

“Will definitely stay here again!”

Rooms are very nice, very comfortable beds. The staff is extremely courteous and helpful! It is worth the extra money (which isn't much) to stay on the concierge floor...keyed entry to the floor, free drinks and snacks at night, plush bath robes, free breakfast the next morning and a newspaper delivered to your door! The location is awesome, within walking distance of great hotels and clubs. This is the place to stay if you're visiting Baton Rouge!

Room Tip: Pay the extra $ for the concierge floor

“Excellent hotel”

Stopped here on the way to New Orleans. The hotel couldn't have been better. Greeted by a friendly valet who made leaving the car a breeze. Staff at the desk were happy and friendly. The room was spacious, with a great view of the river and a comfy bed.

When it came to dinner, we decided we did not want to eat in the hotel but the staff were really helpful in suggesting alternatives. We decided on a place and then we had a complementary car drive us there and pick us up.

Particular thanks to Chris who was our driver and part time tour-guide!

Room Tip: Get a river facing one - they are not a lot more and there is nothing to see the other way.

“interesting history to this hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2011

Everything here was top notch from arrival to check out. We were in town for a football game, so the hotel was very busy, but this didn't diminish the level of service. Everyone on the staff was great. The room had a nice view of the river, and had all the amenities typical of a large modern hotel. Valet was very quick for being so busy.
I liked learning a bit about the history of the hotel from the desk clerk. I couldn't believe that Huey Long actually had a tunnel built from this hotel to the capitol building so that he could sneak off unnoticed, but I suppose that's just a regular part of "colorful" Louisiana politics.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor facing away from the street.

“This is the WORST Hotel I've ever experienced!!!!”

The staff are rude and extremely unprofessional. I was floored that a Hilton Hotel would allow this type of behavior by their staff... SKIP this on altogether!!

Room Tip: There are no good rooms...
