The customer service here is very bad! The two ladies that work the front desk are very mouthy and treated us horribly. When we arrived in Baton Rouge we had a reservation at Motel 6 - which is right next door to Days Inn. We noticed that the Days Inn offered breakfast, so we decided to go and ask for their rate, but first we went to the Ramada Inn, which is on the other side of Days Inn to see what their rate was. Ramada did not accept pets so we did not stay there (we have a small dog). So we went to Days Inn and asked the clerk how much a night was for "two adults, one child and one small dog". We told him that we have a reservation at Motel 6 and that it would be about 60 dollars including taxes. He gave us this same rate without taxes applied (65 dollars more or less a night after taxes). We cancelled our reservation at Motel 6 and stayed at Days Inn. After 5 days of us letting our dog out for walks and to the bathroom etc, we were very rudely treated when we went to go pay for one more night. The lady at the front (Tues April 21, 2009) told us that we would need to pay 90 dollars more for 15 dollars more per day fee for having a dog and lying to them. She just assumed that we lied about our pet, did not ask us if we had initially told them or not. She was never nice in her tone. What ever happened to the American customer service: The customer is always right? I don't want to take advantage of anybody, but we could have been treated a little nicer, perhaps asked if we had claimed the dog in the first place - which we did. There is no way that this hotel is worth $80 a night with the pet fee! The rooms are cleaned alright, but the carpets are very old and sticky, the beds have springs sticking out of them and EVERY DAY the toilet overflowed. When we would ask housekeeping to provide us with one more towel a day for our son, they would argue with us that we were only allowed 2 per room - ?!?! That is crazy for even 65 dollars a night we should get a third towel. During the night, when my husband would take our dog out to go to the restroom, we would have prostitutes approach our room. And they would hang around even after we would shut and lock the door. I told the employees of Days Inn about our toilet and would tell the front desk to tell housekeeping that we wanted three towels. Apparently they did not take my requests or complaints seriously b/c it was still an issue. We did not check out immediately because with a three year old and all of the electronics that we need to set up for our company (we are an independent business and in Baton Rouge on business) it is kind of a pain to pack up and move everything, so we put up with the small stuff. However, there is no excuse in my book for the motel employees to treat a paying customer the way they did us. Also they appear to be renovating the Days Inn, but in the 5 days I was there nothing was renovated and there is large pieces of furniture all over the property just sitting out, kind of junky looking. The Motel 6 next door is newly renovated with 32 inch high def flat screen TV’s, new beds, new floors and working plumbing and they allow pets all for just 60 dollars a night. We should have never cancelled that reservation; we should have stayed there to begin with. I recommend anybody to stay at the Motel 6 next door or the Ramada which also had a very nice appearance. I miss the days where customers were treated respectfully when they were spending their money with a company and treated kindly or in other words not being called a liar directly to their face. I am just very disappointed at how the employees treated a customer. We are AAA customers and I will be reporting this complaint to Triple A and also to the BBB and any other internet motel rating services.
Also, one more thing, the photos that are features for this Hotel are defineatly not the rooms that I saw, our headboard fell while we were sleeping one night and the iron and hair dryer had fallen off the wall and just put on top of the TV. And they wanted 80 dollars a night for that!
