“Disappointing...”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

We felt that the trip to the Montgomery Inn was more than a little disappointing. Based on the living social deal we purchased, we were expecting admission to two bourbon tours and chocolate covered strawberries. Most of the tours were free and the tour that did charge admission wasn't covered. It was explained on our second night (after another couple asked) that the strawberries were out of season and they wouldn't be offering anything in its place. We felt misled about what we received and what was offered in the deal.

The food was very disappointing. We slept through the breakfasts but the dinner that was provided was a strange assortment of food and our chicken was burnt. We had better meals at the local Arby's.

The room was "antique" in that everything was old and rickety. Our bed made a lot of noise and the armoire in our room rattled any time you took a step. I was concerned entering the inn because there were several cats outside and I am very allergic to them. Luckily, there were no cats inside.

All in all, we were fairly disappointed with our stay and would not recommend the Montgomery Inn to anyone else.

“Pleasant Retreat”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 November 2011 via mobile

We found the Mongomery Inn through a Living Social offer. The inn is a nice place and the service is great. We enjoyed the owner's hospitality. The breakfasts and dinner were delicious.

It is located conveniently near the wineries, Bourbon distilleries, and equine farms we wanted to visit.

We recommend you try the Montgomery Inn.

“Not the typical B&B”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 September 2011

We purchased a 2-night stay through Living Social, and got a great deal! (Though the deal said it included 2 bourbon trail tours, and they would have been free anyway. Misleading.)

We had a room in the back with a private entrace, and we loved it! Very clean with nice furniture, but few decor pieces. (Like it wasn't finished being decorated, or maybe between seasons.) We loved the big tub and the double-headed shower! The room was a bit dark with a couple lights burned out, but other than that, very nice. In the winter months the outside entrance would probably be very inconvenient.

Breakfasts and dinner was very yummy. Couples sat separately in the eating area. We often had conversations with the back of someone's head while they ate. I prefer everyone at one big table like at other B&B's. They had snacks and plenty of beverages available, which was very welcome after the bourbon tours.

There wasn't a lot of room in the main house to sit and relax. The son was always right there and very chatty. It was a little awkward because it was obvious we were in their living space. (He also talked about personal things which make things awkward also. He's young, but I think he needs to keep in mind that our conversations are often what we remember from a B&B.)

After I booked online I didn't receive an email confirmation, so I had to call the B&B to confirm that we did get the room we requested for the days we requested. Thankfully we got our first choice room.

The town of Versailles is very quaint. It was a little difficult getting around, even with our GPS. If you don't have one, be sure to have a map of the area and not just one from google maps.

Room Tip: The rooms in the extension are newer and more sound proof than the rooms in the older house.

“My reservation was cancelled without telling me”

These people can not be trusted, I had a very bad experience with this place. I excepted a buy one/get one night deal and when I tried to call the owner about it, she was very sharp with me. I called later to ask if we could change our nights and after a few words of conversation, she hung up on me after saying, "Well, I guess this conversation is over". The third time I called to request an early breakfast, I told the person of my feelings that I had not been treated in a respectful manner, and she hung up on me and later cancelled my reservation and left me a message on my voice mail. Consequently, the plans we had made for the weekend had to be cancelled, due to the actions of the owner. I would NEVER stay here and would tell everyone to be aware.

Living Social Customer Care and my attorney both agreed it is not necessary to allow anyone to come into my home and verbally abuse me (we find being cursed at distasteful) or attempt to run roughshod over us. The message you received when you did not take my call in person was simply this: "We have had a change of heart and we believe you would be happier at another Inn. Please contact Living Social at your earliest convenience to receive a full refund of your money." We strive to foster an atmosphere of convivial hospitality. I wish you well in your travels.

“Our best B&B experience ever!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 September 2011

We stayed at Montgomery Inn B&B over Labor Day weekend, and what a great choice it turned out to be. We stayed in the coveted French Room, which is very large, well furnished, and comfortable. Furnishings (all antique) included a settee, huge mirrored armoir (which actually hides the microwave and minifridge, as well as a compact stereo system), vanity, king sized bed, side table, dresser, and even the double sink in the bathroom is a converted antique buffet. The bed was VERY comfortable--both my husband and I often experience back pain when away from home, but not here. The premium bedding was also appreciated. We also had a flat screen television with the usual selection of cable channels (no premium channels, though). This room has a heart-shaped jacuzzi, but it is short on jets with only 3, just 2 worked, and they were very close together, but it was nice for a hot soak, and the TV could be turned so you could actually see it from the tub. There is a double-headed shower, but there is not enough room for two adults to share it. Bedding, towels, and robes were all high quality. There was ample closet space, extra pillows and bedding, as well as an iron and ironing board. There are no phones in the room, so if you are one of the few people who don't carry a cell phone, be advised. The only other small downside is that the French Room is too far from the main house to pick up their wireless signal, so we had no Internet access. Oh well, that isn't why we went there anyway!! Pam and her family were very friendly and helpful. Breakfasts both mornings we stayed were very good, and guests have access to coffee, tea, soft drinks, and a variety of snacks at your convenience in the spacious and lovely dining room. While you are in Versailles, be sure to have a meal at Melissa's Cottage Cafe about a mile away on Main St.--it's a local favorite, and we certainly found out why! Huge portions of good food at very reasonable prices.
