“This hotel needs help!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 December 2011

We often travel with our dog and are big fans of the La Quinta chain. Hotels are usually clean, beds are very comfortable, and the price is affordable. Unfortunately, this La Quinta is in need of renovation. The beds were horrible--lumpy, worn out, and just uncomfortable. The sheets had stains. The staff was friendly and accommodating. If you are looking for a good night's sleep, this hotel, in its current state, is not for you.

Room Tip: Not off the lobby

“Good hotel to stop at enroute.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 November 2011

My husband and I stopped at La Quinta on our way home from Florida. We found it through the hotel discount booklet that you can pick up at the Welcome Rest stop as you enter Kentucky. It is located just off I75 in Richmond Kentucky. We were impressed - clean, frig, microwave. The breakfast was very good and was offered complementary. For the price it was an excellent choice.

“Good hotel ... if you're in non smoking building”

Clean, convenient, modern, everything nice .... as long as you are in non smoking building. Other building is divided and drifting smoke enters non smoking rooms. We also found cigarette burns in beadspread.

Breakfast good but needs many more tables.

“well worn but clean”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 October 2011

We had business at Eastern Kentucky University, and needed an inexpensive place to stay for the night. Based upon other reviews on this site, it seemed like, for the money, this would be our best bet. Though the facility is older and some things are very worn and look well used, our room was immaculate and more than adequate for our needs. The breakfast was fine--nothing fancy but not just donuts and coffee like you sometimes find at these budget types of motels. We will need to make several more trips to this area over the next year, and I would be more than willing to stay here again.

“Excellent accommodations for the business traveler”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2011

We stayed here twice within the last 2 weeks, looking for a slightly more luxurious place than we normally stay on our periodic trips to visit family..

By calling the property direct and asking for the AARP rate, my wife got rooms for a Sunday and Thursday night for the low end of their price scale. The rooms were non-smoking, king bed, near the lobby.

The rooms were in excellent condition, well-lit, and furnished. The first room had a couch, the second, a lazyboy recliner. Each had a large dresser and a writing desk that was suitable for extended computer usage. The bath had like-new fixtures. The only thing lacking is common to nearly all motels - no convenient way to turn on/off bed lamps without groping for the switches.

Breakfast was on a par with that of the other Richmond motels we've used, but the breakfast area was much cleaner and fresher-looking. Items that were nearing depletion were rapidly replaced by the attentive staff.

The location is convenient to I75, but I would not recommend the family restaurants in near proximity - the quality of their dinners has noticeably declined. Instead, try others on the 25 bypass loop or Main Street.
