“Avoid unless you have no choice.”

Stayed here Monday night. It was TERRIBLE - We asked to be put near the pool so we could go swimming easily. The desk clerk took the payment, waited 30 minutes until we were unpacking, and THEN told us the pool hadn't been inspected so it would be closed. Like she couldn't have told us at the FRONT DESK?

Also, the bedspreads had cigarette burn holes. One of the pillows had a shoeprint (!!!) so that hit the floor and stayed there. There were no bugs, but the room smelled... musty. Like it hadn't been aired out recently. The lights were dim, the bathroom so tiny I could barely breathe, and the beds were excruciatingly hard. I seriously considered sleeping in my car in the parking lot, but the patrons at the bar in the next parking lot deterred me.

The ONLY two good things: The Wi-Fi was fast and free, and the AC was ice-cold.

There's NO WAY I would stay there again.

“Definitely a budget hotel”

I've stayed in worse. There were no bugs, it was relatively quiet, my car did not get broken into, and the bed was comfortable. However, it wasn't very clean - my first impression was walking up a stairwell that looked as if it hadn't been cleaned for weeks, with mud and trash littering the steps. The room, once we got one that they had a key for (second attempt) was reasonably large. The carpet certainly could use a good cleaning, the bathroom floor was dirty and I wouldn't have taken a shower here without wearing shoes in the stall! The sheets, which were well worn, were clean. The best part about staying here was taking a trip into the historic downtown. Next time I go through Richmond, though, I'll give this hotel a miss.

“Very Dirty!”

My husband and I booked this hotel due to the location. We were spending time in Lexington but were also doing some traveling in the Richmond area. When arriving to the hotel, you have to drive through the Waffle House parking lot. Hotel was very run down looking from the outside. The guy at the front desk barely spoke any English and had his family behind the desk with him. When we finally got into our room, The smell was so unbearable. It made me want to vomit! Walls and carpet were very dirty. The bed spread had holes in it and the sheets were completely torn. The bathroom had not been cleaned at all. We went down and asked to be put into a different room. The bedding was in better condition but the smell was the same and the pillows did not have cases on them. They were stained brown and red. The Pool was filled with nasty brown and green moldy water. Walking up the stairs to our room, the roof was dripping and nasty roof water got all over my hair. I did not feel comfortable staying in this hotel at all. We went and booked a room @ Comfort Suites down the road, then came back to the Econolodge and checked out. Luckily we got a full refund. Defiantly spend the extra money for a better hotel then staying at this dump!

“Not Quite Last Resort”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2008

I've stayed at this motel twice, on this date and in April of this year. If you get placed in the back portion of the motel, it is worse than the front(where I am this time). The wifi doesn't work in the back, but does fine in the front. The motel is just plain worn out, although the management does try somewhat to keep it clean. A remodel would do it wonders. As other reviewers have written, I have found the bedsheets a little stained. There are marks on the walls. The clothesrack is missing in tonight's room, and the holes where it was mounted to the wall have been plugged with tissue paper.
I booked here again, simply because I have a discount rate that made it significantly cheaper than other options. I doubt that will be enough to influence me to try here a third time.
It'll be okay for me by myself tonight(I was less confident when staying in the back part of the motel), but I certainly wouldn't bring my wife or kids here.

“Worst overnight ever”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 September 2008

As we approached our room in the back, we saw what we assumed were residents of the hotel, 6 or more men drinking on the 2nd floor balcony, with loud music playing and the chairs from the room out on the balcony. They all turned and watched us as we entered our room which was only a few down from their's. We went in and pulled the curtain and locked the door. Within a short time, they got extremely loud in spanish, and before long they were right outside of our door. We were quite frightened as we didn't know if they were fighting or just partying. This went on for a long time, getting louder and banging on the walls. We called the front desk and told them what was going on and that it was getting out of hand and that the next call we would make would be to the police. After about 10 minutes, it quieted down somewhat. All through the night though there was some sort of noise from outside that woke us up, from these same people to dogs barking. It was the worst night we ever spent in a hotel. The room wasn't that great. There is no road to get to this place off the highway. You have to go through the Shell station. I would not recommend this place to anyone!
