“Thoroughly Clean and Quiet”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2011

We traveled here to visit friends in a nearby town. The map told us the hotel was on the left, but it was actually on the right. There are two other brand new hotels right next door, a Huddle House restaurant, and a convenience store. It is set back off the main road a bit so you don't hear the traffic. There is some construction around the newer hotels, and you have to U-turn if you need to go south out of the parking lot. However, we did not hear any construction noise and there was a designated U-turn access.

The front lobby is small but cozy. It was quite cold out and they had a fire going in the fireplace. A nice welcome! The front desk clerks were very polite and knowledgable. We had trouble with our credit card, and they do not take cash so be prepared for that. We got it worked out and made our way to the room.

The breakfast area was roomy and clean. They had microwave popcorn packets for you to enjoy any time. We went to a restaurant for breakfast with our friends, but they had hot breakfast items such as ham, eggs, biscuits and gravy. My son is a very hungry teenager and could not resist the cinnamon rolls and muffins. They were really good!

The hallway to the room was super clean and easy to navigate. The room smelled fresh and clean when you opened the door. Plenty of lighting throughout. We had the two Queen beds. TV is a large flat screen and had plenty of channel choices. Furniture is in excellent shape. Everything looked almost new. Fridge and microwave were spotless. Bathroom was super clean--one of the absolute best I have ever seen. Granite countertops were large enough for all four of us to put our items. There was a built-in shelf unit that held all the cups and toiletries normally provided, so they stayed out of our way while we used the sink and counter. Tub and toilet look new and spotless. Towels were awesome!!! Very thick and soft. Definitely the best ever!

Now, the only bad part--the beds. They were hard as rocks. No kidding--if you need a soft bed, bring your own!! I am a side sleeper and was forced to sleep on my back due to the hardness of the mattress. Sheets and blankets were clean and fresh and there were four pillows-two soft and two firm-on each bed.

I took the kids-age 14 and 10-to the pool. It is not super large, but very very clean and they had lots of big soft towels. We stayed on a Saturday night and there was no one else in the pool the whole time we were there.

I am quite picky about cleanliness when it comes to hotels, and this one ranks at the top of my list. My whole family enjoyed the stay with the exception of the beds.

“Is this an example of Holiday Inn Express "Quality"?”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2011

First there is a limited number of hotels in the Radcvliff area howver it is nice to note that two hotels are next door to this hotyel with the Hampton Inn scheduled to open in about two weeks. There are "pros" for this location. The hotel is relatively new, thus fairly clean. On the parking lot and outside could stand some cigerate butt pickups. Inside the hotel I was met by a clerk that was nice however she remaiend on the telephone for part of the time she was checking me in. A couple of hours later I noticed a pizza delivery driver behind the front desk. I trust he w as not going through guest record information. The room was nice. The internet worked well and the bathroom was clean. Towells are OK, not plush, however I must remember this is a Holiday Inn Express. There was only a shower and no bath tub. The biggest issue was the poor and I mean really poor mattress on the bed. Could not have cost more than $39. I personally would put this mattress in the garbage pick up if I had it at home. It provided no support at all and when you lay on it you sunk "way down". This is no doubt the poorest quailty mattreess I have ever encountered in a hotel. Please keep in mind the hotel is failry new. The pillows were as cheap as the mattress. The walls are paper thin and we heard guest next door and above us for quite some time in the evening and in the morning. The continential breakfast was the usuall Holiday Inn Express as they continue to promote the cinnimon buns. They were OK even though somewhat dried out. Coffee, cereal, bananas and a very small selection of danish. On one day there was a copy of USA Today and local paper available. On day two only the local paper. No one seemed to know or really care what happened to the USA Today delivery. From their dress it was difficult to tell employees from guest. What ever happened to name tags and at least similar shirts for the employees? Lastly you won't find the rates very reasonable at this location and that is due to a virtual monopoly enjoyed by these three Radcliff hotels. The only restaurant close by is a McDonalds thus you have to drive a few miles to get a meal.

“Attention to detail lacking”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 November 2010

We stayed here about a year ago for three nights and loved everything about the hotel.
The basic quality and cleanliness was still there this time but the place seems to be slipping . Nothing major-lots of little things...1).lamps in the room unplugged, 2)inadequate pillows on the bed,3) batteries in the remote died and we had to unplug the TV to turn it off,4) minimal hot water on our second day here when it was below freezing outside 5) key cards for our room were inactivated after one day and we had to go to the desk to get in 6) towels not stocked in the pool 7) breakfast the second morning = the coffee in the carafes was cold and nearly empty- they never bothered to set out fresh until I told them( this was and hour and a half into breakfast).
None of these things would be a big deal by themselves but all together they are enough to send us elsewhere next time we come to visit our son at Fort Knox=especially since two new properties have opened right next door!

“Great Service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 October 2010

We really enjoyed staying here. They had great front desk service, nice rooms, and it's kind of the center of between Fort Knox and Elizabethtown. Great place to stay.

“Awesome Hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 March 2010

My daughters and I stayed at this hotel during our stay for my son's Army graduation in Oct. 2009. This hotel was clean, visually pleasing, friendly staff, good food. Thanks for making our stay a pleasant one.
