I stayed at the Heritage House when passing through Prestonsburg and found it to be a gracious and pleasant place to spend a night.
The property (exterior corridors) is quite large with two, multi-level buildings attached to the lobby/bar/meeting room structure. Check-in was a breeze and the clerk was friendly and knowledgeable.
The room was not what I would call modern or even up-to-date, but it was clean and comfortable. The TV was not a flat screen, but it was large enough and the standard def picture was quite clear. Plenty of channels to choose from and the wireless wifi worked well without a hitch. Firm bed, clean linens and above-average toiletries were all appreciated.
No notice of musty or ill smells. The bathroom was clean and the shower supplied adequate hot water and pressure. The bed was comfy, but the pillows were a tad "puffy" to suit me. The heating unit could have been a little quieter, but did the job. Speaking of noise, though the hotel sits nearby to a fairly busy four-lane road but I heard no road noise (or my neighbors) during my stay.
The bar/restaurant on site made a pretty good burger and had a great standup comedian show (free to hotel guests...not sure if it is always that way or if it was a special holiday deal). Mike in the bar was very hospitable and the manager Rhonda was helpful as well.
There is a free breakfast from 6a to 9a: bacon, eggs (pretty rubbery...skipped them) and sausage gravy, yogurt, milk and cereal. More than enough to get you out the door and on your way. Got to work on the lobby coffee though. The water and concentrate mix is bad enough with OJ...with coffee, yuuck! Cheap brewed coffee would be better.
Still, my only gripes are tiny. It's is not fancy, but it is plenty nice. I would gladly stay at the Heritage again.
