“A Very Nice Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 December 2011

We recently spent 3 nights at the Best Western Paducah Inn. After reading several T/A reviews, I had concerns, so I called "Vick", the manager to address them. I told him we would be celebrating our anniversary, and I made our expectations clear, as to pets, bed size, etc. He said he would take care of us, and he did.

Our room was really nice - very big, totally remodeled. Really comfortable bed and pillows. Very modern bathroom. The entire hotel is very clean, as was our room. We had several requests of housekeeping each day, and they were always exceeded. The personnel we met were very polite and friendly. Each day, we spoke with "Alma" at the front desk. She was very helpful with directions, and any questions we had. Breakfast was good, but the same each day. My 2 suggestions would be to get sugar free syrup for the waffles, and to extend or change the breakfast hours so that they end at 10:00 AM instead of 9:00 AM, which was a little too early for us.

We really enjoyed our stay and felt we received good value for our money. I would definitely stay here again, and would recommend it to others travelling to Paducah. The location was very good - near downtown and the mall

I feel if you have questions, you need to call ahead and speak with the manager of a hotel to give them the opportunity to serve you, as you are expecting. If things aren't right after you've called ahead, then it's their fault. But if you don't let them know what you expect, and you're unhappy, then it's your fault. Everytime I've called ahead, I've never been disappointed.

Thank you, Vick. We'll be back.

Room Tip: Call ahead and speak with management to let them know what you are looiking for.

“Horrible Customer Service - Never Stay Here”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2011

Quite simply, this hotel manager lacks basic customer service to ever give him your business. I mistakenly made my reservation for Friday night instead of Saturday. No excuses - my mistake. I was in the middle of driving from Southern Georgia to Illinois with 2 of my young sons (7 and 9), and by the time we got to Kentucky it had been a very long day, with about 300 miles to go to get home. Both Friday night and Saturday night this hotel had empty rooms available for reservations. They charged my credit card for the "no show" and would not let me stay there Saturday instead, and chose to let their room sit empty.

I know this was my mistake, but they had open rooms both nights. Given that it had been a long vacation we had saved for already, I didn't really want to pay them for another night, so we instead drove home that night, getting in at midnight. Sure they weren't obligated to give us a room Saturday night, but it really wouldn't have cost them anything to accommodate my honest mistake. I will never again stay at Best Western, given their basic lack of care for their guests. I can't wait to see how the manager will try to spin his response to this.

Hello Steve,
First of all I am sorry you had to go through all this trouble. This was something that was out of our control. You booked it online not through us, so we don't have much control over the reservation. We offered you to stay with us on Saturday; we never said you can’t stay with us. You stated you were halfway home and didn't want to drive back. We did our best to accommodate you and also you were even compensated for your loss. I ask you to please make sure next time when you when you book online, to read the cancellation policy and check the arrival dates. I am not trying “to spin” this response in our favor but you seem to forget to state some facts in your review that we resolved your issue and compensated you for the amount of you were charged. I hope in future you don't have any problems with your stay, have a great day!

“Oversights make what could be an otherwise excellent stay, average.”

I wanted to like this property-- the room and bathroom were really nice looking, breakfast was pretty good and the fitness center worked just fine for what I needed.

So it was disappointing when I first picked up the remote (with one of those plastic "clean remote" covers to ensure your room is sanitized down to the remote) and discovered brown stuff (hoping it's chocolate) smeared all over it. I called the front desk--something I've never done before, no matter how yucky-- just because when given negative reviews I can sense management's frustration at no prior call been made. I only called because it was such a blatant oversight that it made me wonder how clean everything else actually was. And was sorry I did so, because the person at the front desk simply responded "what do you want me to do about it?" Me being nice, I said nevermind and that I would clean it myself. Working in the hotel industry myself, I know that the first response is always "Sorry" followed by "We'll send someone down to clean it right away."

There was a very damp spot on the floor, and our sink, although very pretty, was completely clogged. Not so pretty. But of course, I didn't call about those things because I was already shown what my response would be.

Next day we had breakfast in the lobby and I left early to use the gym and my boyfriend stayed behind to use the lobby's wifi (because we could get hardly any signal in our room). It was almost 9 which is when breakfast ended, but we were done eating-- he just wanted to use the wifi-- and someone came into the breakfast commons, turned off the tv and turned off all the lights on him! When we checked out, the front desk agent said (and I believe I was detecting the slightest bit of sass in her tone) "how was EVERY LITTLE thang?" I never thought I would be THAT girl, but I was, apparently. She gradually warmed up and asked some questions about the rest of our trip to come, so it was nice of her to make the final effort.

But all in all, first impressions are very important and this one (these ones) were not good. Paducah is a lovely town-- just find some fun B&B's to stay at close to downtown and you should have a blast!

“Nice room, Sleepless Night”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 August 2011

This is the most expensive hotel for this trip and it cost more than our original quote due to "local tax" and the sofa that was listed on our invoice was not in the room although there was space for it. This Best Western is new and very attractice with nicely furnished large rooms and the staff was very friendly and helpful. That concludes the good part! There is no elevator and the stairway to the second floor is narrow for carrying luggage. All the bad events came after we were upstairs, totally unpacked and were too tired to change rooms, so we did not mention them to the desk clerk until the next morning. We set the air conditioner on 60 to cool off the room and it probably only got down to around 75-78 degrees. The desk clerk had told us when we checked in that we would probably need a blanket for sleeping. As it turned out, we did not even need a top sheet. That is about the time we noticed that the mattress pad and bottom sheet were pulling off the bed. After remaking the bed several times during the night, we finally gave up since there was no elastic in either to hold it in place. We spent the night unbunching the beddidng every time we turned over or moved--which for us is often. After a rather sleepless night, we went to shower and discovered the moldy shower curtain! Breakfast was hot and adequate with sausage, eggs, and waffles, but there was very little for my diabetic diet--all white breads and cereal with added sugar. There was no honey or sugar-free syrup/jelly for the waffles. Needless to say, we would not stay there again. As we continued our trip after breakfast, we discovered lots of nice-looking hotels at the next two exits along I-24 W. That is where we would stay next time.

Room Tip: Don't unpack until you check the shower curtain and check out the bed!

“Very Nice, Modern Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 July 2011

person found this review helpful

Hotel kind of sits off by itself, not off the main Paducah exit so is in a nice quite location. There is a gas station within walking distance and restaurants just a couple of miles away. Hotel is looks very nice looking with modern decorations. Room was nice, spacious, cleaned well, modern fixtures. Nothing wrong with room at all. Nice breakfast area, juice dispenser happened to be out of order the day we were there but not a big issue. Hotel has lots of signs about no pets allowed but had a couple come in with 2 dogs. Not sure if that was being done with approval or not. Definitely a good stay overall. Do not be discouraged by its location, kind of a hidden gem.
