“Just Say NO!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2011

I am not all that fussy when it comes to quick overnight hotel stays. Give me a clean bed and room in a safe location and I'm good. But while I know that inexpensive hotels are not luxurious or filled with amenities, I still expect BASIC cleanliness, the type that I would afford a total stranger in my own house. Let me count the ways I was dismayed: cigarette butts on the carpet in the hallways in multiple locations; cigarette butts on the carpet in my room and my son's room (do the smokers in Kentucky not understand what ashtrays are for?); a "love note" sticking out from the wall lamp ("I love Juan Dolla"); under the bed: honey-mustard container, dirty sock, empty beer bottle covered in dust and.... (drumroll)....a condom wrapper. Really? C'mon. I posted photos for your enjoyment :-) The carpet was filthy. The room smelled of smoke. The halls smelled of smoke. So, unless there is absolutely no other option, Just Say No to the Travel Lodge. OK. One good thing: location, but that's it!

“Good choice for the $$$”

Went with some girlfriends to celebrate a couple of our Birthdays. Went to Arnie's and Lodge Bar in cincy. Read many bad reviews about this place and how it was dirty or the staff was mean, but I did not interact with the staff myself. Our room was not dirty, and we saw no roaches and searched and found no bed bugs in our room. There was a nice tv, a microwave and a mini fridge which was nice cuz we hung out there before we went out. We choose this hotel for it's location, it's the closest to the levee and the cost, we didn't wanna pay much and the next closest hotel was the Comfort Suites and it cost 3 times as much for one night. The only bad thing is that when we searched the date we were staying on the hotels website it stated that the room would cost $64/night (w/o tax) and when we got charged for it it ended up being like 89/night. The front dest said it was because the rooms are more expensive on the weekend....even tho the date we searched was a saturday night...... so it was a little more than we were expecting to pay but still way cheaper than anywhere else. If you are young and looking to go out for the night or going to a game and wanna go out and drink and not drive home it's perfect, awsome location, awsome price. It's nothing great but u get what you pay for..... it offered what we needed for the night so we were satisfied.

“Roach Motel”

This hotel was nasty. The smell was horrible, the service was terrible, and yes there were roaches!!!! I reserved a room on line and when we got there they gave us a totally different room telling us that the other rooms were booked up. The free breakfast was stale donuts and bagels. The only good thing about it was the walk to the levee. They wouldn't even let us leave our car parked in the parking lot after we checked out while we went to the aquarium, we even offered to pay the $5 price and he said no!! I will definitely make this trip again but will find a different hotel!!!!!

“Inexpensive, worth the price, and convenient to everything.”

Went to a Cincinnati Reds game 31 Aug. Stayed here, didn't expect much for the price, was positively surprised and pleased. Wireless was 4x faster than at HOME! Walked to the Great American Ballpark in Cinci, and the Newport on the Levee mall, as well as the Hofbrauhaus-Newport. Stayed two days, never moved the car until we left. Room was spacious, clean, pool was really nice on a 90+ degree day, staff, though not exactly pleasant, was still helpful.

“Good Location but Very old and dirty”

My family and I needed a place to stay that was near the aquarium and also the ballpark. We choose this hotel because of its location it is right across the street from the leeve and was a short walk. I wasn't expecting much but it was still much worse than I expected. The whole hotel smelled horrible. It is very old and very dirty... There was stains on our bedspreads and the beds were horribly uncomfortable. We paid almost $100 a night with taxes and all other fees which it was not worth at all.. Considering the hotel I wouldn't have expected to pay anymore than $35!!! There is much better hotels that are around the same price in downtown Cincinnati. When we go to another game we will be staying in downtown and taking a taxi if we need to go anywhere in Newport.
