Our trip to Louisville was for a family wedding. I thought Louisville was supposed to be a big city and maybe it was but NOT where we stayed. It was more like a ghetto hickville. Upon pulling up to the hotel I knew the stay wasn't going to be a pleasant one. The building looked old, run down and poorly maintained but Im always one to say you cant judge a book by its cover and decided to give it a shot. We arrived a few hours after our family. They had settled into their rooms but said we needed to exchange our room because when they checked it out it had a horrible stench. They moved us to what was supposed to be a non-smoking room on the first floor away from the rest of our party. This room smelled even worse. You know the way a dog smells when it's wet mixed with cigarette smoke, mold, and someone with a bad body odor? Yea, our room smelled worst than that!! Thank God we had a candle with us. We propped the door open to let the room air out and lit the candle. Entering the room I noticed that the carpet was outdated as well as the TV. Yes, they had a few decent channels but are we not in the year 2011 so why is our tv so big and bulky?! This was the first time in years that I've been to a hotel and hadn't seen a flat screen. However, that was not that big of a deal. We checked our beds for bedbugs. We saw specks of what we assumed to be dirt. Unsure as to what the bugs looked like we thought the beds were scott-free. Needless to say, we were wrong! My mom and I slept in the same bad and were scratching all night. I thought I was just being paranoid because I had never slept in such a rinky dink place before. Come to find out my mom got bit as well as my little cousin who was in a room that was nowhere near ours, and another one of my cousins saw a bedbug on her pillow. At this point we were on our way to the wedding and couldn't handle the situation properly but called to let the manager know what was going on. He spoke as if he knew about the problem but never outright said anything and mentioned that he could move us into another room. My mom and I were extremely disgusted and didn't want to be moved into another room because who is to say that the other room didn't have them and if they didn't they would've after we moved in there because they travel with clothes. By the time we got back from the wedding reception it was very late. We spoke to the hotel attendant and he told us there was no manager on duty, we would have to come back to the front desk at 9am. It was 1am and the only thing he suggested was to move us and said we could wash our clothes in their washing machine for $2 a load. Now usually that is something the hotel takes care of in a situation like this (even move us to another HOTEL) but at this point we were too tired to argue with him and ended up sleeping in the car. It was cold and rainy and the neighborhood was extremely sketchy. My mom slept with her high-heel boot in hand and I was ready with my car club. I set my alarm for 8:30am and as soon as 9am rolled around I was at the front desk. According to this manager, this is the first time she has ever heard about bedbugs in their hotel. She was unaware of the procedures the hotel were supposed to follow in such a situation however, she refunded us our money for they stay and said we could use that money to wash our clothes. I really wasn't satisfied with how anyone handled this ordeal but she was the only one that seemed to be genuinely concerned and sincerely apologetic and since I was ready to get the hell out of that hell hole all I could do was accept it. We gathered our clothes so fast and got up out of there.
Before booking this hotel my cousin called around to other hotels and everything was booked solid. NOW I KNOW WHY!!! In retrospect, besides my family there were maybe six other rooms occupied during our stay. For the hotel to be so big with so little occupants I should've known something was wrong. From now on I will judge any hotel I visit by the way it looks outside.
DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!!
