We spent one night at the Galt house. There were a few good things, but the bad outweighted the good. We got the room through a priceline, so got a good price. However, I'm really surprised this is what is considered a 3.5 star hotel. If I had to pay full price for this place I would have been very unhappy. Since we got a reduced rate, it was easier to put up the place since it was just one night. I've listed the pros and cons below.
Pros:
1. Location; downtown and easy walk to 4th street live and convention center. We were at an event at the convention center and it was very nice to be able to walk from the hotel to the convention center indoors through the skywalk in freezing weather.
2. Friendly staff
3. Nice view of the river
4. Parking - able to get a spot without a problem
Cons:
1. As others have mentioned place is very dated. I would not have minded some out of style decor if it was in nice shape. The carpet in our room, however, was trashed and I did not want to take my shoes off. Bathroom was not cleaned well. There was a window seat in the room and it was beat up. One of the sheets was threadbare and had a big rip in it.
2. Phone in the room was not working. I hit the buttom to schedule a wake-up call and no response. I hit the button for room service and nothing. I was able to dial the front desk and he said they were upgrading the phones and that may be the issue. He also said the wake-up call may or may not work due to the upgrade. So we also set the alarm just to be sure.
3. Very noisey. Hard to get to sleep when I could hear the neighbors toilet flushing. Could hear every word when people walked down the hall.
I would definitely never come back to this place unless I got another deal on price-line. Not sure even that would get me back. Right now I am just wishing I'd paid full price and stayed at some other hotel downtown.
