In my opinion, DoubleTree is Hilton's most inconsistent brand. Some of them are good, some of them are disappointing. This one is awesome.
I didn't expect too much- this was my first time staying there. The price was fairly competitive, but the location was perfect for a meeting I had. It is a decent location in general- close to New Circle Rd., 10 minutes to downtown, and 5 minutes to I75. There are a lot of restaurants nearby as well (Panera in the parking lot), however not much in the way of outdoor places to run.
The friendly attitude of the staff was refreshing. From the front desk people to the maid, to the restaurant attendants, everyone was very nice and it seemed sincere. Hilton Honors benefits were solid- they gave me a free drink coupon, free internet, and free breakfast. I think that is for Gold and above.
The rooms and amenities were far better than I expected. Even the hallways were clean, bright, and classy. My room was a suite- very well equipped with flat screens, comfortable, nice furniture, and working accessible outlets. The bed was super comfortable and I slept the sleep of the just. The bathroom was unusually big. The shower was enormous- almost eerily enormous. It felt more like a waterpark than a shower.
The fitness center was in perfect shape- free weights, medicine balls, 2 precor treadmills, elliptical, bike, yoga mats, and a nice TV.
Breakfast was a well equipped buffet.
Like I said, I didn't expect much, but this hotel exceded my expectations. I'll be back!
Room Tip: THere are a lot of smoking rooms in the hotel (it is Kentucky after all) make sure you know what you...
