First, the owner or soon to be owner waited on us at the hotel desk. He was the rudest man I have ever met at any business anywhere. He was helping me at the front desk and left three separate times before I had the opportunity to give him the confirmation number. I asked for a room on the first floor instead of the room I had been given by phone. He left again to help someone else without any explanation or excuse me, then returned to tell me he would not be giving me a room on the first floor because everyone wants a first floor room. He left again to get a copy from the copier. All the time, a nice young man was standing there and he told him not to assist us. He then started shouting at me when I asked him to please just wait on one person at a time, me since I was the only one waiting. He continued shouting until my husband interrupted him and asked him to please just let us have our room key. He then shouted again at me. My sister had died suddenly the day before and we had traveled 14 hours by car and we were very sad and very tired. After registering he continued with slurred remarks but we left and went to our room. If it had not been for the circumstances and our emotional upset and exhaustion we certainly would have just left the hotel. After seeing my nephew the next morning at his mothers funeral he told me the same man had hung up on him two times when he called for us, prior to our arriving. He said he thought it was an accident the first time so he called again and the manager shouted into the phone they aren’t here and hung up. I hope this man can find more kindness for customers in the future. As for me and my family I am not only very unhappy with this hotel but am suspect of La Quinta in general for not letting customers know when a hotel is corporate and does not follow quality customer service.
