Proof that you get what you pay for! When we stayed, we required two rooms. In my daughter's and my room, the following things were a problem:
1. unit door didn't work right; had to lift up on the handle to engage the deadbolt
2. bathroom door didn't shut at all
3. bathroom vent didn't work
4. had to personally move the tv, microwave, and fridge so I could plug the tv back in
5. had to turn on the a/c and figure out how to make it work; old unit that required a lot of adjustments, but still didn't work right; choices were either freezing or hot
6. fridge was dirty/musty, not usable
7. only one lamp worked
8. bugs (ALIVE!!) in the bathroom floor next morning (not roaches, I don't think, looked more like mutant pillbugs); they ran and hid when the lights came on
9. walls were very thin; my boyfriend's room was across the hall and I could still hear him cough (from approximately 12 feet away, through two walls)
In my boyfriend's room, the problems I am aware of were:
1. smoke-smelling and musty "non-smoking" room
2. sheets looked dirty
3. only one lamp worked
4. similar trouble with the a/c
General problems included:
1. outside door at the far end of the building didn't lock; there was no security from that end of the building
2. strange/unpleasant odors in the common areas
3. badly stained carpets; the staff had put up signs indicating that a construction crew was staying there; might be oil stains on the floors
4. water was undrinkable due to a local water issue, and yet the hotel managed to have coffee, hot cocoa, and juice from concentrate, which raised concerns about what they used for water
5. most of the pastry and bread items appeared to be at least one or two days old, minimum
6. boiled eggs were tepid at best, not cold
7. employee smoking in the building
8. breakfast was in the lobby area, not a terribly sanitary area
9. I sent a complaint card to the headquarters, but have never heard back
