For several years we’ve visited regularly Danville, Kentucky; and we’ve stayed each of our many Danville nights in the Hampton Inn. We’ve not been disappointed, and our most recent visit in November, 2010, was no exception. Hampton Inns are by no means luxury hotels, but our overall experience with the chain, with only one exception, is that the Hamptons are clean, comfortable, and provide as guest courtesies many services for which one is charged at larger hotels; e.g. room wireless, breakfast, and toilet accessories a guest (me) may have forgotten to pack. The Danville Hampton rates are reasonable. The employees are friendly and helpful. The rooms have always been clean and comfortable. The morning breakfast buffet is varied and well served. The Danville breakfast buffet not as extensive as one or two other Hamptons with which we’ve lodged, but the Danville buffet has certainly proven adequate with more of an assortment than some of the motel-hotel breakfast buffets we’ve experienced.
Several times we’ve had to request late checkout, and the hotel desk manager has always been amenable. We’ve discovered too, that during big events at Danville’s Centre College, bookings are tight, and reservations are best made well in advance of those special weekends or events.
The Hampton is convenient to Danville’s picturesque downtown, the Centre College Norton Center, and, importantly, to Walmart. Danville, Kentucky, is not noted for high-end dinning opportunities, but not too far from the motel there are several chain restaurants and local eateries.
As I mentioned in the first paragraph of this report, for the last several years we’ve had reason to visit Danville several times. We’ve developed a fondness for the Hampton, and we actually look forward to pulling into the hotel lot, going in to the lobby, and finding one of our Hampton friends on duty behind the desk.
