“Don't believe the negative hype...this is a good hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

Overall, this is a great hotel and I would recommend you stay here. I came to tripadvisor and read all of the negative feedback and was quite nervous because I had already purchased the room on priceline for $60 a night. After reading for about an hour...I began to chronically worry.

NEWS ALERT! Don't believe all of the nit-picking privilged American critiques about this hotel on here. Go see for yourself, as we had an AMAZING STAY! (especially for what we paid) It was a good 3-star hotel and lived up to our expectations. We had a great stay. Room was nice and clean. Staff were super friendly. Great view of the city.

I will say that my wife didn't like how the bed slept for her, it made her back hurt. But, It felt good to me. Shrug. Another critique would be for the hotel to provide an English class for the Latino/Latina housekeeping staff. They knocked on my door 4 times within 15 minutes...even though the "do not disturb" sign was up and I told them we didn't need service. I could sense a cultural/language barrier in that interaction. Outside of that...it was a great stay. Honestly, I don't get why people are bad mouthing this place. Get over yourselves. We liked it!

“Worst beds ever!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012 via mobile

This hotel is so dated, its sad. I have stayed here several times for business. No matter how much they vacuum, the carpets just look dirty. The beds are terrible. They have sleep number beds, and they kill me. What they don't tell you on tv, they are air mattresses in a real mattress casing. I usually hurt for several days after staying here. The pillows are poorly stuffed down, and you wake up after an hour as if you don't have anything under your head at all. Or you can use the gigantic pillows they have for decoration and really kill your back and neck.

Also, if you get a room facing the highway, you will hear trucks and traffic all night long. There is no relief from the sound, and it is LOUD! The air conditioner unit is locked so it doesn't go below 68 at any time. This is fine for during the day, and sleeping alone, but not for sleeping with a spouse. It gets really hot and stuffy in the room, with no way to cool it down, except opening the sliding glass door, which of course makes it even louder in the room.

It's clean enough, though nothing to write home about. The plumbing is in need of serious repair. If the toilets flush consistently, they will probably keep running all night. Here is my favorite..... There is an outlet by the sink, which is necessary for drying my hair. However they built the sink stand so it completely blocks the plug!! Really?

If it were cheaper, this place would be acceptable, but to charge normal rates for this is a crime.

We stayed the weekend of the Super Bowl for three nights to long. The hotel is extremely noisy being that is on top of the highway. I'm not very picky but this hotel could use some upgrades also. Last of all....I got out of the shower and was brushing my hair when I could see something drop from the celling next to me, the biggest cockroach I've ever seen!!!!! They did handle the situation in a good manner but that skeeved me out big time! This being said I would only recommend this hotel if there is no other.

“Ok”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

Recently stayed 5 nights at this location. I had read reviews about all the noise and requested a room on the "quiet" side. Noise was not a problem for us. Our room was clean. The only problem we had was the first room we were in had an OLD matress with 1992 written in sharpie. It had a huge dip and was worn out. When we asked to be moved the desk clerk was rude and did not want to acommodate us. We called down and talked to another clerk that was polite and moved us to a room with a sleep number bed. It was better, but the remote for the sleep number was broken, would only show half of the numbers on the display. We just dealt with it. We ordered room service from the downstairs pub and it was excellent. The next night we ate upstairs at the 360 restaurant. The food was average and we had a terrible waitress. We did LOVE the pool and hot tub. It is really nice. All in all, it was average for the money.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the river side. View is nice and room is quieter. Also ask for a room with a sleep...

“Room Selection is key to a better stay.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

As you can see from prior reviews (and if you look on Google maps, it is no secret), this hotel is located steps away from busy I-75 and and the double decker Brent Spence Bridge, spanning the Ohio River connecting Cincinnati and Covington. Room selection is key here. We stayed in room 1028, having paid a small fee for a cityview room.See room tips for choosing a room. The hotel is a circular tower. Rooms ending in 29-34 would be most noisy. 28-25 have city views, but 26-22 should be quieter. We live in a smaller city historic neighborhood, bridged between the Miami River and I-75, so we are used to road noise. If you live in a quiet suburb and noise bothers you, simply pick another hotel farther from 75. If you enjoy a spectacular view, want something affordale and convenient to everything to do in Covington/Newport and Cincy, try this hotel. Our room was clean, we liked the little half moon balcony, even in the winter. We are Club Carlson members so did the Breakfast for a Buck offer. The breakfast was nice, but the staff at Kelley's were VERY NICE- VERY good service even though it was essentially free and we liked the vintage mantle and Irish pub decor (and tipped our waiter Robert well). There are some minor maintenance issues in rooms (towel bars, etc.) but the bed, granite counters and TV were modern and updated. The pool area was nice, quiet and has a large skylight roof. They need to repaint the huge columns there. A bump-up in their maintenance budget should be done before the issues grow. We did not get to see the famous revolving retaurant. The manager of days gone by is working to revive it to the glory days when it was THE place. If you like 70's retro architecture, a city view and something affordable and convenient-we walked to Mainstrasse, the beautiful Roebling Bridge and the restaurant we chose- The Radisson Riverfront could work for you.

Room Tip: Rooms ending in 28,27,26 and 25 have a great city view. But 28 gets noise, 29-34 would get the most...
