“Dirty, terrible hotel”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2011

This was one of the worst places we ever stayed in. The rooms were dirty and disgusting. The manager was picking his nose while we ate breakfast. The comforters were stained with yellow urine/sperm stains. The bathroom was horribly dirty and old. Even the hairdryer was dirty. The walls had splattered dirt on them. The carpeting was dirty with crumbs etc. Will NEVER stay here again.

“Dirty! Dirty!! Dirty!!! Not worh the money....”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 August 2011

I booked this hotel for a short over-the-weekend stay for visiting Mammoth Cave National Park. Although Econo Lodge is considered "cheap stay", I thought that it shouldn't be too bad as it is part of the Choice Hotel Chain. I was wrong!! Apparently, Choice Hotel is having horrible quality control. Among a few Econo Lodges I stayed in July, somes of them were fantastic and some of them were super crappy!
The Lobby of this Econo Lodge is in good repair. Receptionist was friendly and efficient. The room was a totally different story. The carpet appeared to be dirty and it was a little sticky while walking on it. Chairs had big stain on it so I need to lay down a towel to sit down. There was some sticky things on the edge of the table.
The pool was nice and big. You have to ask for the pool towels though as they are very stingy on giving out towels.
Although there were some positive amentities (i.e. pool, Wi-Fi), I will definitely avoid this hotel in the future. There are other hotels next to the Econo Lodge that are much better.

“terrible hotel "patel lies"”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 July 2011

booked 2 rooms, one room cooled other's fan was not cooling room with over 100 degrees outside. patel who said he was the manager/owner gave us a fan to help circulate the air in the room. the fan did not work. went down to talk to "patel" again and he sent us to another room which the air did not work at all. walked down to discuss the matter in more detail at which time the manager stated this was the best that he could do. I asked for a refund he said he could do nothing for us because we booked with hotels.com and we would have to talk to them. we called hotels.com and they call the front desk to talk the manager and they were told that he was gone. My wife walked down to the front desk and he was there. she told him that hotels.com called and asked for him and they were told he was not there and she walks down and he is at the front desk, why? he stared at her and then said he would work with hotels.com for the refund. we left that night realizing we were being lied to, before we left we asked ask for a receipt and was told that they could not give us one until the morning. the next morning we called hotels.com and the refund. they called econolodge in cave city and "patel" told them that he told us that we were not getting a refund. I called econolodge in cave city within 5 minutes from the disucssion of the hotels conversation that morning and was told the manager was not available. I called back multiple times that week and was told he was not there. I asked if they were members of the better business bureau and was hung up on. if you talk to them be sure that you have it voice recorded to ensure you get the truth, eventually.

Stayed one evening before traveling on to Mammoth Cave and the Smokies. The property is older, but I found the room clean with no bugs. Breakfast was very basic and the front desk was helpful with information about the area.
