“A Nice End to the Bourbon Trail”

The Jailer Inn is a very quaint B&B with an interesting history. The Inn doesn't have a lot of common areas to hang out in, but is in a great location. Our room (The Library Room) was adequate (a little bit of a mystery odor). Breakfast was great, with a fresh peach, French Toast.

The Jail tour after breakfast was quite enjoyable.

“Something going on, not sure, but loved it!”

Took our teenage kids, rented a couple rooms, 3 kids in one room husband and I in other. We were upstairs playing cards when we heard big crash. I went to stairs and saw a couple in older dress, I figured they were friends of the owner (who had gone out for evening). Hours later, owner returned to see if we needed anything, I relayed my story ask if broken item was anything big cause it was such a loud crash, he looked like I was joking or maybe we broke something and were trying to cover it up, upon looking, he could find nothing broke, anywhere, he even checked the garbage. OK! Then during the night my husband and I were awakened by our lamp coming on without our help, upon exploring, it had a loose bulb. We had a GREAT time and really would recommend it to anyone who likes to visit haunted places. Kids loved it.

“Great place to stay in Bardstown”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 October 2010

I spent only one night at the Bardstown Inn in the Jail Cell room. Upon arrival, the staff was very eager to get me a cup and coffee and welcome me. I had a motorcycle and they allowed me to park it in the Courtyard in back which kept it off the street which can get filled with people depending on the evening. The building is old, clean and organized. It's worth visiting to see history of the Nelson County Jail and take a step back in time.

My room which was the Jail Cell is the least expensive of rooms and not the nicest compared to the others but it's the experience. The room had some dated furniture in it and things look a little dirty in the room at times yet for most part it's clean. It's just wore out in spots and is showing it's age. Like other reviewers have mentioned, it's the details that get overlooked in some regards. They have a cat named Maggie at the Inn who is very sweet, yet she does occasionally visit the Jail Cell room and sleeps on the water bed. I'm allergic to most cats and rather had not seen some cat hairs on my bed when I arrived although I was ok. As far as noise I didn't have a problem with hearing anything but the Jail Cell is tucked away from the road of course.

I didn't experience any ghostly haunting at anytime, but you can certainly feel the history at the inn. The staff was courteous and made a nice breakfast in the morning which was mostly fruit and french toast. It's not my choice, but oh well. I think the inn is worth a visit to say you went or to go if you are looking for a place to stay in Bardstown. As far as going back, I'm not sure if I would since it's one of those places that was nice, but might not be a place I would go the second time as there are other places to choose from in the area. If I did go back, I wouldn't do the Jail Cell room, it's rough, no frills and good for a one time deal.

“Stayed 2 enjoyable nights, quaint and perfect location”

Very unique experience staying here while making our way along the bourbon trail. It was a real jail where they actually hanged somebody in the rear yard. The hotel fee includes "museum" tours of the back of the B&B which remains as it did when it was a jail. Our room, as the other we saw, was well decorated and well kept for the most part (there was a small section of peeling paint in our room). The bathroom was clean as were the linens. It was very homey experience and Paul our host for the first night was pleasant and informative, and made nice breakfast in courtyard the following day. The last day a new proprietor had been hired, I think her name is Hazel, who was very nice (we helped her move in). I think she will help bring the backyard to life and add a female touch to the place.

“A great place to stay!”

My sisters and I stayed at the Jailer's Inn for a few days in July. Four of us shared a room and it was plenty big enough for all of us. We weren't visited by any ghosts but had fun watching for them and trying to scare each other. Lisa, the Innkeeper, was a delight and shared her "visitation" stories with us as well as giving us a tour of the old jail. She made us wonderfully delicious breakfasts each morning which we enjoyed in the courtyard. Lisa also helped us with tourist advice and always made sure we knew where we were going.
The old place could use some updating and new paint but the ambiance and Lisa's southern hospitality far out weighed any of that. Highly recommended!!
