“Excellent Customer Service at this Hampton, a Great Experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

I regularly stay at Hampton Inns because I trust the brand – consistently comfortable, clean accommodations, decent breakfasts and good customer service. Just as a disclosure, I am an Hhonors member and I collect points for staying at Hilton-owned properties.

My experience at the Hampton Inn on West Kellogg in November 2011 was even better than I expected. The hotel has been (somewhat recently) remodeled and reflected modern décor. Reception and common areas were clean and well kept.

My room was modest, but spotless. It featured two double beds with white bedding. I got a great night sleep on the comfortable bed, and, as I have always experienced at Hamptons, fluffy down pillows greeted my head.

The breakfast was decent – fresh fruit (which is what I always go for), omelets, bacon, sausage, cereal, yogurt and juice/coffee.

The very best part, however, was the elevated level of customer service. I always get good service when I stay at HI, however this time they positively surprised even me. I went outside on a freezing November morning to find the windows in my rental car (and all the cars around me), once frosted over, had been scraped by hotel staff. It hadn’t occurred to me to get a scraper myself, but the hotel staff saw a need and took care of their guests. Thanks, Hampton Inn, Wichita. If I’m ever in the neighborhood I’ll definitely stay with you again.

“Close to Airport”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 November 2011

Convenient hotel close to airport. Service was great. Desk Clerk helped me find a restaurant for dinner. I spent one night here and left early the next morning for the airport. a short drive to airport. I will stay here again.

“Amazing service - they even scraped ice off my car windshield !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2011

The staff is incredibly helpful with everything from restaurant suggestions and breakfast service to removing ice.

Rooms and property are well maintained, breakfast variety is wonderful, hot apple cider and cookies greet me in the afternoon. But the most pleasant surprise was going out to my car on a frosty morning to find a hotel employee scraping the ice off for me on 11/4. I've never had that done in 25 yrs of travel worldwide. And for those of us unprepared in rental cars, they gave out ice scrapers for future use.

Room Tip: I prefer the top floor, away from the elevator.

“Surprising Hampton Inn”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

This Hampton Inn is tucked behind a concrete wall of HWY 54 in a tough place to find and not much that is very exciting around it....But...we slept well, had a great two reward night stay, and a breakfast that can't be matched...so don't mark it off the list just for the negatives. The plumbing needed some attention. Just be aware that it isn't the cushy stay you typically might expect at a Hampton Inn.

Room Tip: Restaurants are not too far away, but basically a drive rather than walking. Some road noise and ai...

“Standard Issue Hampton Inn”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

Standard Issue Hampton Inn which has been nicely updated in dark tones. Everything clean and fresh. Good execution on the typical Hampton Inn breakfast. My room faced the freeway but with the a/c running it was still quiet. The outdoor pool area was small, but clean for a refreshing dip in the hot Wichita summer heat, but not geared or landscaped for anything beyond that.

The casual dining chain type restaurant that you typically find adjacent to a Hampton Inn was out of business when I stayed. If you didn't have a car, you'd be left with having pizza or Chinese delivered to your room or walking about a 1/4 mile to fast food places in an area that isn't pedestrian friendly (unless the hotel shuttle van will take you someplace to eat-- I didn’t ask.) The next closest retail business is a tattoo parlor, and the U Haul warehouse is across the freeway.

I thought my rate was a poor value proposition for Wichita on the date I stayed. The price difference between area full service chains and this Hampton Inn was not much on that day. Rates can be different from property to property on a daily basis. My only point is that in this market, you may be able to upgrade if a deal is available from one of the full service properties and this property is at their standard rate. Some people may be more motivated to full service if the lack of an adjacent bar & restaurant isn’t corrected. Heads up if you’re one of them.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the freeway
