Traveled from Topeka, Kansas to stay over night in Wichita, Kansas. The reservation was made over the phone directly from the hotel and it was effortless. Room was reserved with a cc and was informed that as a AAA member the room would be at a discounted rate. Upon arrival at the motel I checked in and went to the room and found it to be very clean, neat and very accommodating. The next morning there was a continental breakfast with the usual entrees to include juice, coffee, cereal, toast, fruit, etc. Upon checking out I informed the desk clerk that I enjoyed my stay and gave him my business card. A truly pleasant experience.

I thought it would be a dive. Next to (and kind of under) the freeway, next to the airport, and with a parking lot that seemed a bit iffy. But the room was nice, clean, mostly quiet, and had an OK breakfast. My concerns were: the front desk clerk that was watching a video that was vulgar while working; the desk clerk the next morning that was asleep while sitting up at the counter; and the side and back doors that were open all night and didn't need a keycard to open to get into the hallways. Since I had a bargain price, I also got a room with a toilet that ran every five minutes or so, but wasn't heard if the bathroom door was closed. When I told the staff about the toilet the next morning they all (3 people) said, "yes, we know". Otherwise a great stay.

For the price, this is a great deal. Nice, quiet and clean. I would recommend Howard Johnson to friends and family.

Well, we must be very fortunate because my husband and I have stayed here for several days every year and we've always had a good experience. The rooms are clean and the staff has always been helpful. There is a microwave and mini-fridge in each room. Had no problem getting an extra pillow from them or more towels if needed. There are vending machines for snacks and sodas, an ice machine, and a computer for customer use in the lobby. This comes in handy since we don't travel with our own computer. The rates are more than reasonable. We live in Southern California where hotel and motel rates go through the roof, so we really appreciate the lower costs. Its located close to the airport and, even though its close to the 400 freeway, its quiet. Its also within walking distance of 4 or 5 restaurants, both sit down and "fast food", and is right across the street from WalMart in case we've forgotten to bring anything. The breakfast room is open from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m., and is stocked with coffee, tea, toast, bagels, muffins, fresh fruit, pop tarts, hot cereal, and cold cereal. There is a full size refrigerator where you will find milk, juice, yogurt, butter, jam and cream cheese. Cost wise, this is also a real bargain. We fill up on breakfast, which pretty much gets us through the day till dinner, so we end up only paying for one meal a day while in Wichita.
